i really think I have a mental problem. I was so happy yesterday because the balance at the office said I had lost weight just like the one at home. Now I have become paranoid that I am gaining it back so checking myself every couple of hours to make sure. one pound up since yesterday but I know its just water weight....

I think I just need to relax and do what I am supposed to do.

yes I am just blabbing here.

REDMOND REAL SALT (Ancient All Natural Sea Salt) is unrefined sea salt mined from an ancient sea bed and it contains 50+ trace minerals. Visit realsalt.com for more info. I love sprinkling it on long crisp leaves of Romaine lettuce...mmmmm, on my turkey, beef, fish, etc. I easily eat more than 1/2 teaspoon per day. I salt my "real food protein" (meat, fish, egg) and my salads, veggies, etc.

Well Had my WI 2 and down 2.4lbs. Not bad I will take it!! Felt good to be down 13.4lbs in two weeks. Oh but for some crazy reason tonight my son was eating a tub of DIBS(ice cream treat) and I grabbed a couple and shoved them in my mouth without realizing. Yumm! But OMG what was I thinking! I just truly was not thinking!
I recieved my Miracle noodles in the mail so excited to try them tmmrw for dinner. I believe Jordanna has tried these noodles as well, No calories, no carbs, no sugar!!! Yah Japan!! Will let you all know about these shiritaki noodles. Best luck to everyone!
I rewarded myself today with a 50in plasma tv, but now after eating that icecream treat Im pretty pissed at myself. Back to regular tmmrw that is my attitude. Night ladies.!!

Speaking of which, you and I are still in the same place... are you going into Phase 2 now?

I've been ambivalent about my goal lately, and since my sister just started IP on Friday, I have decided to do one more week on Phase 1 to give us some overlap. I've only been losing around two pounds a week for the past couple of weeks, but to be honest, I'm perfectly fine with that. I'm pretty close to where I need to be... the size 8 pants I bought a couple of weeks ago have now given way to size 6, and I have no burning desire to go lower.

Anyway, since we both started in January (though maybe not the same day) at almost the same weight, I was just wondering where your head is at the moment...

13.4lbs in two weeks is amazing; I bet you feel great! As for the ice cream, i don't know about you, but I have (or should I say HAD) abad habit of eating a bit of whatever the kids wouldn't eat - leftovers and what not or just even picking at what they have and have had to stop myself on numerous occasions, its funny to watch, my husband laughed at me! I'll pick it up and realize what i'm doing and stop or if I get as far as putting it in my mouth, i'll spit it out - funny! I wouldn't beat yourself up about it, i'm sure you'll make up for it today.

The Shirataki Noodles look great. I am a noodle lover and am really excited to see how you like them. I may have to get me some from Trader Joes close by. So, do you know what they count as? A veggie maybe given what they are made from?

I'm sure it will work. You'll be fine.

My IP protocol sheet has me taking 1 tsp. of sea salt per day. I'm probably the only one on this forum who is doing this. I think it was raised from 1/2 tsp. by our regional IP franchise in order to cut back on our headaches and dizziness. It's really important to measure whatever amount you decide on to make sure you're getting enough. I measure mine into a shaker bottle and use it throughout the day, and there's still plenty left at the end of the day. I mix whatever's left in a bit of water and drink it down.

Hi, Novak, I started January 5. I've been looking at 139.6 and 139.4 for the last couple of mornings. It's fun to see the 130's again! Can't remember the last time. I actually have been on phase 2 since I reached 145. Our area uses the 80% figure. It didn't slow down my weight loss at all. I'm pretty much losing just a pound or two a week at this point and am happy with that. I'm wearing a size 8 myself. They are pretty loose, but I have never worn a size 6 since I've been an adult, even when I weighed 110. I don't think my bone structure is cut out for it. Like you, I have no real burning desire to lose more weight, other than to just check off the goal (and match my true weight with what my driver's license claims. ) I look fine where I am. I asked my coach about whether I should set my goal for 3 pounds under to allow for gaining some back in maintenance, and she said she has actually continued to lose a bit even in maintenance so not to worry about it.

guess am lucky enough or unlucky enough to have put on the majority of the weight in the last 2 to 3 years; which means I still have nice clothes that would fit me if I lost a bit of weight. Needless to say, late last night I went ahead and tried a couple which used to fit me and never did again AND they fit again another confirmation that I am loosing it; just hope it continues.

I was surfing around this website last night and came across a board and to be honest got a bit scared...many folk seem to be dealing with different diets during all their life. they knew the lingo and referred to them via acronyms...made me scared as I don't want to be like that. This is the second diet I have tried aside from southbeach for a month or so AND I want it to be the last one.

Lets hope that becomes reality.

Virginia is one of those humane states that doesn't have your weight on your driver's license... otherwise I'd be guilty, as well.

I started on January 24th, so you are a little ahead of me... I've yet to see the 130's, but hopefully tomorrow. Seems like our bodies know when we reach the right setpoint. Once I get start adding carbs back, I'll get to work on toning my muscles and getting into an exercise routine again. It's been a long road, but so worth it...

I'm posting today hoping for a little motivation, since I've been in maintenance, I've found it really easy to eat right, and I walk everywhere I can, so I know I'm getting some excercise, the biggest problem I'm having is getting back into the gym to tone up. I used to go every morning at 6am, M-F, and slowed down a bit before IP, (thus some of the problem) and completely stopped when starting IP. It is really hard to get going again. I'm making a commitment here, today on this board to get up and go tomorrow morning (I know the class I usually attend will have missed me as it's a tight group) But I've read in a lot of places that putting the commitment down where others can hold you to it will help. That is what I'm doing now. I've worked so hard to get to this place with weight and help, it's not a good idea to not go all the way and work on the muscle now.

I WILL BE WAKING UP AT 5:15AM TOMORROW TO GET TO THE GYM FOR MY 6AM CLASS.

remember it is all about creating a habit...it only takes 21 days. remember how you ate before IP? and now look at you... you can do this too!

Pita,

(when I say this it may come across as harsh, but it isn't intended to sound like that, and, as a person who has done many diets let me try to explain how I SEE what you noticed.)

Many times people have the desire to lose the weight but lack the commitment to make a lifestyle change. It may always be a losing of 10, 15, 20 pounds but the ideal weight changes over time and ONE DAY they are not 20 pounds form ideal but 60.

You have to be at a place where you see a problem, are willing to make changes doing whatever it takes for as long as it takes i.e. committed, and then DO IT. THEN you have to follow it up with a supportive MAINTENANCE LIFESTYLE. ANYONE AND EVERYONE WILL regain weight if they do a quick loss just to lose and then don't stick to principles learned to maintain. They need more exercise as they are closer to the ideal weight (nutritional change is vital but can't keep you thin all by itself).

ALSO, anyone who has/is baby fat, chubby, a muffin top, fat, overweight, obese, etc that chooses a diet and then GIVES UP, will keep fighting that battle until 1) they accept their weight as it is or 2) they finally commit to a change. In that journey they will invariably try numerous diets.

Many people stuck in the diet cycle, haven't found what works. They haven't found why their body is gaining. It could be hormones (metabolism or reproductive related). It could be pancreatic breakdown of some kind. It could be thyroid. Until they find the why, they are just applying a quick fix.

I was like that. I have spent over 20 years trying several diets. I always wanted to lose the weight. I thought I was committed. And, I did lose what I needed to at the time but, I never stayed committed to the end. I always quit when it got hard and said, "I did good this time" or "maybe I need a break" or "I will get those last 5 pounds next month". Not the case. I had just quit. Over time, I would realize I was still fat... no obese according to my BMI and I would try again. Again, I would lose and quit. Each time lower than I started but still farther from my ideal weight.

When I see perpetual dieters, I see people who aren't sure what they are willing to change, give up, do to lose weight, keep it off and have good health. I see people who are still in some state of transformation not a place of commitment.

The best thing about IP, if you do it faithfully, from beginning to end, you will learn the principles of why the diet works and what to keep doing going forward. There are "secrets", haha, shared in phase 3 and 4 about what to eat, when and, with what, so that you can keep a self-check on the weight gain and not drift from your ideal by much. I also like that this weans you from their packets to real protein foods and slowly introduces carbs again to help you find your carb tolerance threshold. KNOWING THAT can be a huge help to not becoming a perpetual dieter.

I would have to say, for your second diet you picked a good one. I think it will give you the tools and a chance to not be a perpetual dieter but, the biggest key to that, in my opinion is... YOU. Your mind, what you are willing to do and accept, how committed you are to maintaining your health/healthy weight, whether or not you give up on you and your goals, your willingness to see that as we age we must be more involved in the things that cause our body to gain weight and must be committed to a lifestyle that supports our goal of a healthy ideal weight. Without that, nothing you learn will stick or be put into action for long.

Again, this is all my humble conjecture and opinion, but, it is based on my experience as a perpetual dieter.

you are not harsh at all and make very good points. I guess my point is that I sure hope I am committed to make that change because it would destroy me if I fail at it. Nothing against those who are trying to fix the problem and either haven't found the solution or for whatever reason can't stay inline with what they have to do. I personally as a 42 year old woman do not want to see myself fail. As an incentive not to see failure happen, I started working out again (as of yesterday mind you) and started to try on my very tight clothes.

I think I was lucky to bump into someone at work who had done this diet as that is the only reason I found out about it. I also think am lucky that my whole family is fit; hence I get the encouragement that I need from them along with smiles when they hear me lose weight. On Friday after my weigh in, I walked around work with a spring in my step looking forward.

I love this diet because I know it works, because I know once in maintain mode, even if I stray during a vacation, I can always fix it.

much gratitude for noticing my post.

-El.

ps: this morning tried a pair of shorts I use to wear 4 years ago (ones that the zipper broke when I tried to wear them past summer) AND the zipper closed with ease
