Default Why is Balsamic vinegar so bad?

Does anyone know why we can't have balsamic vinegar?

-Teresa
edit - I think I answered my oen question - looked it up in FitDay - it has 2.7 grams of carbs per 1 tbs... vs red wine vinegar - 0 carbs per tbs

I believe it is the sugar/alcohol content... yes the carbs are up there ;-)

Some balsamic vinegar is very thin and has few carbs, but some is sugary and thick like syrup (because it is syrup and has the carbs to prove it). If you go into a gourmet shop and read all the balsamic vinegar labels there's a tremendous variation in sugar content from nearly zero to almost that of pancake syrup.

I've had salad dressing made with whiter balsamic vinegar - anyone know the carb count on that?

white balsamic appears to be the same as regular balsamic. at least the ones I have in my cupboard are the same.

I use apple cider vinegar, a zero carb red wine vinegar, zero carb herb vinegar, zero carb pinot grigio vinegar, and a zero carb rice vineagar. All other values are zero zero zero too! Those and some lemon juice are all I need to make almost any dressing or marinade.

Thank you, but I have to say that I've lost the weight over a span of about five years (most of it in the last two). Losing 20 lbs "accidentally" over the course of about a year, year and a half. Trying to lose and not have much success the second year and a half or so. And only in the last two years feeling like I know what I need to do to stay on this path.

A lot of people lose it much faster (even I did most of my life), but it's the first time I've ever been able to keep any weight off - stay on a downward trend for so long. Usually I was either rapidly losing or rapidly gaining.

I am though proof that you don't always lose "most" of your weight in the beginning. Instead the weight loss skills are snowballing - gaining momentum as I go.

Walden Farms makes a balsamic vinegarette that's really good and totally legal.
