You have lots of instant friends on this forum. We are all sharing this experience and are eager to help if we can.
Be careful trying to get too much color from the ketostix. Someone posted the other day if we are seeing dark on the ketostix we may be burning muscle. I don't know for sure but I use the ketostix too and I barely see color on the first little square.
Get this though, I talked to my coach about ketosis and she actually told me that we don't need to see color on those stix. This is when she told me I should eat a bar everyday to help with the constipation. It seems if I eat the nonrestricted items everyday I find myself hungry and then I get tired and the stix don't turn pink at all. I told her if we are not in ketosis we will be hungry though and we should not be hungry on this diet.

Day 1 is over with. I have been so sick the past couple of days with a chest/head cold that it was easy peasy to not crave ANYTHING. I had to schedule eating. I didn't get the required 3 protien packs in, missed out on one. Just didn't have enough hours in the day due to spending the majority of it in bed. Still not feeling up to par but am going to work today so I should be able to get al my requirements in. I already know what my biggest challange is going to be.....the SALT.....Yuck!!! I am not a salt person. I don't cook with it or ever put it on anything. I put some in water yester day...double yuck!!! Great news...I am already in ketosis. That made me happy this morning. Well, on with day 2. Have a good one all!!

Good Morning all!
I have a quick question. My ketostix are showing me in the moderate to high end of ketosis and I have the weird taste in my mouth.
I weighed myself today and I am up almost .7 pounds from yesteday. I didn't cheat(ever) but because we were travelling I only had a shake for my lunch, no veggies or salad but had my chicken and 2 cups veggies at supper. I drank 11 glasses of water and took my vitamins..Any suggestions why this would be happening? Could it be because I didnt eat all my veggies and didnt use the sea salt (Iforgot them both on my counter when we left)
Im still down for the week but concerned as to why I would be showing a gain over yesteday.
Happy Birthday Jordanna!

I think I'll stick to my ~2 pounds week rather then give up exercise though. I'm on the diet to be better at the activities I love not the other way around.

Hi, RJC, Did your coach talk to you about exercising while on this diet? I was told to exercise minimally, especially at the beginning. Doing too much will exhaust you while your body is getting used to everything. It could also make you burn your muscle. Or maybe you are exercising just right and are losing fat while gaining lots of muscle. Maybe you should have your fat percentage analyzed weekly. It's possible you are losing 3-5 pounds of fat each week, while you are increasing your muscle so much that weight loss just doesn't look like that much. Just a thought.

I timidly walked in the Buckle (where my size 2 & size 4 daughter's shop) and asked to try on some jeans. The girl had to keep bringing me smaller sizes! I actually bought a pair of Buckle jeans! I haven't done that since I was in college. My family was so proud of me. My husband said my butt looked so tiny. Wow!! True, it was a splurge since, hopefully, they will be too big in a few weeks, but I needed something to wear out that night. I wore my black, high-heeled, pointy-toed boots with them and I felt awesome

Way to go! I love buying those new, smaller jeans, too!

I find it humorous to read that muscle weighs more than fat--a pound is a pound. Muscle takes up less space than fat and burns calories, but they weigh the same. Similar to the question what weighs more, a pound of gold or a pound of feathers? Just my thoughts.

Hi, want2run, that's what people mean when they say muscle weighs more than fat: a pound of muscle looks like a firm baseball, while a pound of fat looks more like 3 soft nerf balls. A person who has a large fat percentage can look much heavier and wear a much larger size than a person of the same weight who is very muscular. So a square foot of muscle does weigh much more than a square foot of fat.

That's why we are only supposed to weigh once a week, it averages out over the week (I weigh every day, too ) Maybe you're retaining a little since you were traveling? Sorry, but did you go #2? Missing your salad, veggies, & sea salt could all be contributing factors. I wouldn't sweat it, I'm sure you'll be down for the week!

This is from RealAgedotcom (Dr. Oz & that other doctor). I use oil and vinegar on my salad when I'm at work. I keep a bottle of each in my desk.
Choose This Fat Burning Condiment
It's perfect on potatoes, very good on veggies, and divine in salad dressings. And the best news yet? It may help with fat burning. The magic condiment in question: vinegar.
Obese people who took in 1 to 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar daily in a study melted significantly more body fat and belly fat than a group taking a placebo -- despite being on the same diet and exercise plan.
A Sour Path to Skinny
Vinegar may offer a weight loss boost thanks to acetic acid. Seems this sour stuff does double-duty fat-blasting, inhibiting the body's ability to store fat while boosting its ability to burn it. And even though apple cider vinegar was the type used in the recent study, researchers suspect most varieties of the liquid seasoning could have the same get-skinny effects. (Find out what the YOU Docs think about vinegar and weight loss.)
Other Tart Benefits
Vinegar also seemed to help lower bad-for-the-heart triglyceride levels and systolic blood pressure at the end of the 12-week study. That's a Sherpa's load of health benefits for one little flavor maker

I have a diet buddy who at the beginning of the diet felt just as bad as you seem to feel. She kept saying she was going to quit. She works much harder physically than I do--8 horses to care for and a cleaning business. But after a couple of weeks, she started feeling much better. Now, after ten weeks, she says she has a lot of energy and feels like she could stay on the diet indefinitely. If she gets hungry, she has an extra packet. And in the first week this is definitely allowed. You might need to take an extra potassium pill daily. You can also take an extra multi-vitamin at lunch. When you get a headache, do you take a half teaspoon of sea salt mixed in water as is recommended? Eight pounds of weight loss in 6 days is phenomenal! Try giving the diet a couple of weeks or go on the Alternate Plan for a little while to ease your body into the regular one. Good luck in whatever you decide.

I know I've read that people have put their pudding (maybe it was drink) packets in with their hot coffee. How exactly do you do that? Today I put my vanilla pudding mix in with my coffee and tried to shake it up, but it was still really lumpy. I put the blender ball thing in my mug and shook again (luckily I have a really good tight mug) and it was a little better, but I still get some chunks. I was afraid to put the hot liquid in the blender bottle because I recall someone having it explode on them. Any tips would be great! Thanks!

This morning I had the WF Ketchup on my IP Fine Herbs & Cheese Omelet. I was scared after reading what other people thought of it, but it was good! I don't know if I would have liked it 2 or 3 weeks ago, but today it was delicious

It's the premixed drinks that you can use in with your coffee. I use the premixed vanilla every morning. Never tried the chocolate but I think I will give it a try.
