Ideal Protein Diet - December Chat

I dunno if I did this right. I forgot from the last time....(age...~ ~)

Josh....that is amazing. You are my new hero. How did you do over Thanksgiving???

Well, it is officially December. A light snow is fallling outside...makes me want to hunker down and hybernate all winter.

I rarely exercise anymore.....I SHOULD - because I think that will be key in maintaining my weight loss. I just seem to have this mindblock against it. Plus, with fibromlaygia...I am always exhausted afterwards (no excuse, tho!!)

Ogdog13 12-01-2009 07:59 AM

Torchlaker, I posted a bunch of high protein, low carb shake recipes on the recipe site. Let me know how the pudding works out. I'm hunting for more pudding recipes for you.

torchlaker 12-01-2009 09:03 AM

OgDog - boy, some of those look really good...(crabcakes....mmmmm). Thanks. Where is "Spring City" in PA? We used to have a cabin in CookForest near Clarion.

Ogdog13 12-01-2009 10:48 AM

Torchlaker, Spring City is in between Pottstown/Limerick and Philly on 422. Not close to Clarion. Did you ever get to Philly?

Lilita175 12-01-2009 11:56 AM

December!

Still in Phase I, looking forward to Phase II someday............

I have lost another couple of pounds since Thanksgiving. I am down to 186.4.

When I hit 185, I will be down 25 pounds since October 14, 2009.

I will never forget Oct. 14, my first day on IP, because I went to a big fair that day! Have you ever heard of fried twinkies? No? Fried avocadoes? How about roasted corn on the cob? LOL.

I made it through that gauntlet day by eating a chicken and veggie shish-ka-bob and then a shrimp cocktail, lots of water and iced tea. The rest of the program has been soooo easy in comparison (well, ahem, except for Thanksgiving Day.)

I weigh myself every day.

Wt. gain does not send me on an eating binge.......it just helps me get back on track. Usually, I go and drink a big glass of water whenever I notice a wt. gain. (start flushing.)

Since, I am rambling, here's a few more thoughts:

I have heard of carb. cycling. Aka the "Wendy Plan" over at Weight Watchers, also known as "eating whatever you want on Sunday" in the Body for Life program. Aka as "eating all your carbs within one hour" of each day at some other program.

I have heard and tried all the tricks. They didn't work for me simply because I am a Carboholic. I can't eat "comfort carbs." and then stop.

I want the whole bowl of mashed potatoes, I want the whole pumpkin pie, I want 2 corn on the cobs.........get it? It just doesn't work for me.

IP is a low calorie plan. I am hungry some of the time during the day. I could easily eat a big bowl/plate of carbs to satisfy that hunger. But I won't.

I drink water and eat a package of IP. No, it is not the greatest tasting food in the world. But it is a substitute/crutch/friend/treatment/ whatever you want to call it to make it through the day. And then I have a great meal either for lunch or dinner.

Yesterday I had roasted chicken breast, cucumber and cabbage salad with olive oil, cilantro, chili and lime dressing.

The day before I had sliced Tri-tip over lettuce salad.

I am making the best of this program.

Because this is the last program for me. I have had such great (and fast) results and I am not going back to being over 200 pounds ever again.

I feel great. My clothes are sooo loose. My daughter told me I need to get new clothes. But I am NOT going to spend money on size 14 clothes because
size 12 is just around the corner!

Lilita

Ogdog13 12-01-2009 12:06 PM

Lilita, I understand your carb-cravings totally...mine is a big huge plate of whole wheat spaghetti, and seconds! I can't carb cycle because I'll just go back to eating the way I did....I need the structure that IP provides. I'm on the same page with you regarding pants size. I put my size 14 jeans on this weekend and am only a tad away from being able to pull them down over my hips without buttoning. I don't know how much weight loss I've had (go in tonight for my weigh-in) but the size 14s being large....WHOOHOOOO!!! :carrot:

Things I've learned on IP

I cannot believe its December already. :o

Things I've learned with IP

1. I know what foods I LOVE and foods I HATE.
-vanilla premaid shakes-wow amazing.
-rasberry jello-again amazing.
-vanilla pudding-cake batter!!
-carmel bars-good treat
HATE LIST
-any soup

2. Eating vegtables are totally rewarding. :broc:
3. Creativitiy is a must.
4. Salad is not THAT bad without dresssing!!
5. I cannot live without CHEESE! :cheese: I had a few sneaks over the holiday and wow how I've missed the cheese!
6. I love seeing results.

Hope everyone has a wonderful week. Cheers to more loss!! :goodscale:goodluck:

Ogdog13 12-01-2009 01:06 PM

For those of us who want to cut back on cost, who like making our own food, whatever the reason:

We've all got our own quirky taste and texture preferences, even for simple protein shakes. Here are a few techniques you may find useful in preparing your next protein shake.

PROBLEM:

If your protein shake is:

Too Thin:
Try adding a few ice cubes, frozen fruit, or a tablespoon of sugar-free instant pudding mix to thicken it.

Too Thick:
Some protein mixes have guar gum or other artificial thickeners in them. Instead of throwing them out, you can make shakes using only half the packet, mixing in a regular whey protein to cover the protein gap.

Not Creamy Enough:
Try using a tablespoon of sugar-free pudding if you make your shakes with water or milk. If you use milk, you can try using milk with higher fat content (1 or 2% instead of skim) or just use a tablespoon of dry, sugar-free instant pudding mix.

Not "Foamy" Or Frothy Enough:
Extend the "whip" time in the blender to "fluff" the shake.

Won't dissolve:
Solubility problems usually have to do with the particular brand of protein that you buy. Your best option is to first blend your liquid and ice and slowly add the protein to the blender. Look for an "instantized" protein that blends with a few shakes to avoid the problem all together.

Not Sweet Enough:
Add a packet or two of Splenda or a small piece of banana. Fructose (fruit sugar) is 70% sweeter than sucrose (table sugar) so even just a small piece of banana or other fruit go a long way in providing sweetness.

Weak Vanilla Flavor:
A ½ tsp of imitation vanilla flavor or ¼ tsp vanilla extract will enhance the vanilla flavor without adding calories. Alternatively, you could add a tablespoon of sugar-free instant vanilla pudding for just 13 calories.

Weak Chocolate Flavor:
A teaspoon of real cocoa powder will give you a nice chocolate flavor without adding the sugar that comes with using chocolate syrup. This is a great idea for those on tighter budgets that can only purchase one flavor of protein at a time because you can add cocoa to vanilla protein and make a chocolate flavor.

Protein Sticks To Blender Glass:
Always add the liquid to your blender or shaker first. When blending thicker shakes, try pouring the protein into the blender as it whirls or lightly pushing the powder down with a spoon to ensure it mixes.

well tis the season!! this is going to be a tough month for many people with all teh "extras" that the season brings. i am trying hard to stay focused for my break at christmas eve / day and stay on track for the rest. For added incentive, my husband and myself volunteered for Operation Red Nose throughout the holidays. We have done this before, it is fun, festive, gets you out of the house, but also eliminates or at least cuts down on tempting christmas drinks/parties. We do have several of those as well, but luckily enough one is a catered turkey dinner so can find what i need there, and the other is restaurant order so can do the same. And again, offered to DD those nites to keep me honest!! I can do this knowing the enjoyment i will get on my little break right at christmas. seems worth it - if i have to choose, and apparently i do! so good luck to all of you who are similarily trying to plan this season!!

echobaby 12-01-2009 01:51 PM

hEY, DO ANY OF YOU STILL GET HOOD'S "CARB COUNTDOWN" OR "CALORIE COUNTDAOWN" IN YOUR MILK SECTIONS? HARD TO FIND HERE IN L.A., BUT THEY ARE THE BEST SUBS FOR MILK I EVER TASTED. THEY BEHAVE IN COOKING EXACTLY LIKE MILK TOO. VERY LOW CAL, CARB, FAT.

Sandrab 12-01-2009 09:53 PM

Weigh in day today!! down 3.8lbs and 4.5". so just when i was feeling a bit hopeless, my meeting put me back on track....how can it seem soooooo long and yet so short at the same time! seems forever since i started, but yet when i look at the dates and the weight lost.....i know the stats are good. so going to keep on truckin!! good luck to you all...

Hello! I'm new here! I'm 38 and hoping to be close to or at goal when I turn 39 in March. Today is my first day on IP and so far so good. Mild headache and hungry, but not famished. I'm so excited to be here! I read all of the November Chat posts over the weekend and feel so much better prepared! Thanks to all of you who have gone before me and provided so much motivation! I started the day with the Wildberry Yogurt Drink and it was much better than I was expecting. For lunch I decided to get the Leek Soup over with. I steamed some broccoli and used the water from the broccoli to make the soup, added the broccoli, a little Mrs. Dash and my sea salt. I was pleasantly surprised. I'm about to try a pudding, we'll see how that is.

Thanks again for all of your awesome posts.

LuvMyMarine 12-01-2009 10:15 PM

Hi. This is my very first post here, so I hope I am doing it right. I'm planning to start the Ideal Protein diet this weekend, and I am excited and nervous at the same time. Excited about the wonderful results others have had, and nervous that I might not be so lucky.

I just wanted to say to Torchlaker that I've enjoyed reading your posts as I've been researching this diet. You're an inspiration. And I am so sorry for the loss of your husband. We may have some common ground. You see, my husband is employed by KBR and works as a safety superviser in Iraq. He works closely with the firefighters, and has for the past 5 years. It is entirely possible that he and your husband worked together at some point. My husband has been at a few bases, including Striker, Ramadi, and Al Asaad, with the majority of his time spent at Al Asaad. Just thought it would be interesting if they actually crossed paths. Stranger things have happened...

As I mentioned, I am planning to start this diet on a weekend because I understand the first few days can be tough. My boss started a week ago and experienced headaches and stomach upset the first few days. I figured I'd rather experience these symptoms at home, rather than work. On a positive note, she has lost 10 pounds and her blood sugar has normalized! YAY for her!

torchlaker 12-01-2009 11:56 PM

Welcome watermeyer and Luvmy marine: I am excited for you both to start your new journey.

Luvmymarine: My husband worked for WSI - a subsidiary of KBR. He spent his first year at Scania, and was at TQ when he died. Who knows? Maybe they actually did meet each other. I meet a WSI firefighter up here in the "wilds" this summer. He remembered when Eddie died (Eddie was the first firefighter to pass over there). I was able to give him a hug...

I am really nervous about my weighin on Thursday (usually it is on Tuesdays). I have tried substituting the bars that I got from Netrition. My scale shows a 3# gain! I decided not to get on my scale until I weigh in...I have been depressed all day. This was my biggest worry....what happens when I go off IP? Granted, I only plan to be off the 3 weeks I am gone...but I am still eating lowcalorie/low carb...and l think I gained. Decided the scale just depresses me too much.

Started taking Milk of Magnesia for my "inerd" problem. Worked great yesterday....not today. I am worried about that too.....since I have had problems with this ever since I started on IP. I thought it would straighten itself out....we have tried so many things.

So I finished altering 3 tops today....and when I put them on..they seemed tight (well, tighter than I am used to).....seemingly reaffirming that I have gained something. I have never had a gain while on IP.....

SandraB....you are doing amazing. You have steadily gone down every week....I think we are just needing to be more creative or something. Both of my last 2 dinners were terrible.

EchoBaby: We used to have CarbCountdown milk around here. Haven't seen it in ages. Wish I COULD find it. I couldn't make myself make the pudding because of all the carbs and calories in the Lactaid...I thought it would make me gain MORE weight.

Ogdog13 12-02-2009 07:47 AM

Whooohoooo, second weigh-in and 10 lbs in 3 weeks (and that is with cheating a bit here and there). Now I really want to hunker down and not cheat here and there. Still my size 14s are almost slipping off my hips!!

On another note, I just can't eat fish anymore. I was a vegetarian before this diet and went back to fish and seafood to lose weight. My mind is getting the best of me with the little fishies. So, I'm going to try this diet with vegetarian foods instead. Please be patient with me while I attempt at losing weight veggie style.

Torchlaker and Ecobaby, you've been on here a while, any hints for us veg-heads?

SylvieG 12-02-2009 08:14 AM

Good morning ladies and gent's!

Last night was week 17 weigh in. Lost 6,75 pounds over the last two weeks and now am 3 pounds away from goal. I started to reintroduce the restricted items in my diet last week (I didn't have any of them since week 3 - they do taste good!) and will be moving to phase 2 today.

Cannot tell you how good it feels to be sssoooo close to the weight I was in high school! Watched the Biggest looser after my appointment and planning to run... (not a marathon yet!) but maybe 10 km (6 miles) by next summer! :carrot:

All of you have been inspiration to me in the good weeks & the tough weeks and weekends! Thank you!

ottawa 12-02-2009 08:27 AM

Welcome to everyone that is new and good luck on your weight loss journey.

Torchlaker: I hate to bring this up because I gather from previous posts that it is not your favourite subject, but it may help to add some exercise in at this point while you are trying different foods? Maybe you will find you are more active while away and not have to add the additional exercise?

Sorry I had forgotten to post the ingredients of the "Dietary Oolong Tea" that is my life saver, both before and during my time on IP. Really keeps things moving for me.

Effective Dietary Oolong Tea

Malva Verticellate (Chinese Mallow)
Cassia Angusifolia (Senna) herbs
Oolong Tea
No chemical additives, 10 calories, no fat, no protein, no carbs.

It would be a good idea to talk to your Dr. before trying though.

torchlaker 12-02-2009 09:01 AM

Ottawa - you are right. I am thinking I need to add more exercise, plus I haven't been getting all my water in. Forgot about the oolong tea....going into town today....will try to remember to get it.

Ogdog - can't help you with being vegetarian. I am totally braindead when it comes to fixing veggies interesting ways. My neighbor is vegetarian, but most of the things she tells me she eats would not be on IP (dairy, butter, etc.). She told me the other day that she is so sick of salads (I can relate).

Been down the last few days. I think it is because of the weight gain. I knew that nothing could actually replace IP...but I thought I had come close on what I picked out. I weighin tomorrow, but we are expecting a bigstorm here tonight and I dread driving in the first storm (altho it is not as bad as Cleveland was up here. When I was a police dispatcher, the first storm was always awful. People would forget how to drive in it, and we would have accidents everywhere. Up here, they are used to bad weather....but bad thing is, they don't salt the roads, and sometimes don't even plow (money issues, I guess).

Optichick1 12-02-2009 10:35 AM

I just want to say again how much all of you inspire me! I love being able to log on and see how well everyone is doing, despite some struggles we all have now and then. It's hard to respond to everyone, but Torchlaker and Ottawa have been so helpful....and Princass, you and I are the same height, so I relate to your weight loss a little better than all the 5'7'-6 footers :) And Sylvie....way to go! So close. And Josh, wow!

I missed my weigh in this week, because I've been sick, but according to my scale, I weigh 196 this morning. My last weigh in I had stayed the same. Not sure why that happened. But, except for Thanksgiving day, I've stayed on the program completely. So hopefully, when I get to weigh, I'll have a great loss.
Glad I had time to check in! Keep up the great work everyone!

echobaby 12-02-2009 01:03 PM

ogdog, I have no personal experience with the low-carb veggie thing, but the link below may be a good start.

http://lowcarbdiets.about.com/gi/o.h....html%23charts

The only thing that would worry me would be using too many soy products because of their effect on estrogen. I have heard particularly worrisome things about black soybeans. Hope this helps.

I have been seriously down since the whole weekend/holiday thing. I got sick Tuesday night, and was too sick to cook for Thanksgiving, but I had bought a fortune in food, so I cooked Friday. Unfortunately, I thought that I could eat sorta normally Friday and saturday(and drink wine!!), since i ate almost nothing the previous 2 days. NOT!!!! I got back on IP Sunday. The scale Monday said 164. Now I know logically that I could not have gained 4 pounds in 2 days. But still I'm bummed.
Before I cheated, I had the bad habit of weighing myself every day. I have stayed as far away as possible from the scale since this past weigh in. Hopefully I'll be back on track when I weigh myself next Monday

Sandrab 12-02-2009 01:27 PM

You will do fine echobaby & torchlaker! we have to allow ourselves a few experiences, don't we? both to see how it affects us, and to keep us sane? i think you are on the right track about not weighing in every day. that monstrous scale can play tricks with ones mind. it fluxuates like the wind - pending on time of day, water drank, time of month, clothes wearing, bowel movments, last food ate and on and on and on. I get the impression from most on this forum that this is not their first diet. certainly not mine!! but what i really WANTED to be different this time(other than to be the last)was to be on a program where everything in my life did not revolve around counting calories, fats, carbs, in the all consuming way my other diets did. before i could not eat, sleep, work, or talk to a freind without the word diet coming up. it absolutely consumed my life. not this time, it is pretty much counted for me, i choose to talk on this forum, rather than with people who dont understand, and i have resigned myself to the fact that this diet will only work for me if i am realistic about it. and it is realism to me to be able to celebrate a holiday, go on a trip and be able to enjoy. My learning tool has taught me to enjoy while it lasts, but dont go overboard, and get the **** back on board if weight loss is still an issue. I can only do this diet if i know i can live normally after. i can handle some restrictions, but not all restrictions, all the time! as told to me once - why do this diet if you can't live happily after. fairy tale, but true for me!

Thanks for the info Echobaby! I'll read carefully.I'll also look up the soy bean thing at some point. I just like non-meat alternatives and veggies more than meat.

Sorry you felt bad and keep your chin up, you probably didn't gain 4 pounds but are holding water in and will pee it all out in the next few days being back on the plan!!

Hey, Ogdog. I had to come home from work early to be here when the gas man(or gas woman)comes to light the pilot on my furnace. On the way, I stopped at Trader Joe's to get more groceries. I noticed all the meat alternatives and checked the carb count. Almost none of them went much over 8 carbs per serving, and they all had 2 or 3 grams of fiber. So...6 carbs extra for dinner? not bad.

I know this one brand is very tasty..Morning Star. They're in the frozen section. They make breakfast sausage, link sausage, veggie burgers, etc. I've had to make vegetarian stuffing before and have used the sausage. The only thing is, taste everything before you add salt. These things are REALLY salty. Besides Trader Joe's, I've seen them at Von's and Ralph's, which I think are Safeway and Kroger in other parts of the country. You probably know this already if you've been a vegetarian for long.

Congratulations to you all!!

Not So Lil Richard 12-02-2009 06:20 PM

Hello everyone!
I am new to the site and hope I'm doing this right. Anyhow, I am planning on starting the Ideal Protein regimen after the first of the year. I want to wait so I don't have any temptations. I just have one major question about the amount of exercise you can do with it. I have been busting my butt at the gym since May doing bootcamp and Cross-Fit style workouts. While I have noticed changes and have firmed up, I don't have the eating down right so I'm not losing like I'd like to. I have 60+ to lose. I hate to give up the workouts because they make me feel so good mentally! When I went to the orientation about Ideal Protein they stated no exercise for the first two weeks and didn't really promote much other than walking after that. I'm wondering about lifting weights. I really want to stay toned! What are things that you've tried and how much can I really do and how soon after starting the "diet?" Thanks for the help! You are all so inspiring to me!

torchlaker 12-02-2009 06:47 PM

Hi everyone: Welcome NotsoLil Richard!! Richard...I was told that if you HAVE already been exercising before IP, you can keep doing what you are doing...if not, then one probably shouldn't exercise the first 2 weeks. Somewhere on this forum - I think in December - someone wrote WHY they tell you not to exercise...I don't remember who.

SandraB -- you are SO right about making this diet livable. One reason I went on it, was to learn to eat properly once the initial weight was gone. I am bummed that I have to take "a break" before I reached my goal. I need to talk to the nurse tomorrow to see what they want me to do. YOU are doing so well....and you seem to have a great attitude about everything! Yup, I truly doubt that this is the first diet for any of us here.

I remember reading now (and my therapist reminded me today) that when you are stressed and/or not feeling well, your body reacts differently...A lot of time it holds onto weight or there is a gain. She told me that I certainly had had enough stress this past week (I surely did)...plus not feeling good on Friday and Saturday. Echobaby - you didn't feel good. There is NO way either of us ate enough to gain 4#...(I think that is what I gained also). I had been so down because I thought that gaining that weight meant I could not go off IP for the 3 weeks I am gone. I am glad she pointed out the stress/not feeling good factor...I felt a whole lot better.

When I was watching Biggest Loser last night (yeah, I REALLY like that show....especially this season...cuz I was losing weight right along with them, and things the trainers said kinda made sense)...all four were afraid to go home...afraid that they didn't figure out WHAT exactly got them there in the first place. I was wondering to myself -- how does one learn that? Do any of us know the reason we got here at all? AND...how are we supposed to figure it out??? Pondering thoughts......

So - I will go the weighin with my head held high!! I probably responded like a lot of normal people might respond....under stress, I reached for something sweet. At least, it was low-carb, no sugar (well, that was all I had in the house!!)....I would have preferred some Godiva chocolate!

torchlaker 12-02-2009 06:49 PM

....or an Amaretto Sour!

MeghanO 12-02-2009 09:07 PM

So, I am done w/week #4. Only lost 2lbs, but I will take anything I can get. I think Aunt Flo is coming for a visit which didn't help my numbers this week, along with Thanksgiving & being away from home. So I know what I need to correct for this week! One being not quite so many pickles!!! Two, get my lettuce in! Three, start exercising! Four, track carbs for real this week, not after eatting them, BEFORE I eat them. And next week WILL BE BETTER!

I quickly added up how many inches I have lost since being on this diet for 4 weeks now. 11 inches & 19 lbs. MY cholesterol dropped by 40 points. I can sleep better, I am NOT addicted to caffiene any longer. MEntally I am GREAT, my energy level is alot better then when I started this. SO many plus, not enough negatives to quite. I am sorta getting tired of veggies, but they NEED to be in my diet so that I can RAISE my boys & watch them RAISE there kids one day!

THank you Ideal Protein & Thank you ladies of the board for helping me during my first month on this program!

MeghanO 12-02-2009 11:46 PM

I meant to ask, has anyone noticed that they are COLDER since starting this diet? Not just because of the weather but staying warm in general. I have the heat on & 4 blankets on my bed. Last year I only slept with a sheet & comforter???

And I wanted to ask again since it was at the tail end of the November thread...any on exercising? Thank you to those who have responded. My Coach recommended adding a hard boiled egg after a work out.

elishatamar 12-03-2009 09:11 AM

Good morning everyone!

So I'm halfway through my first week on the diet, and I couldn't help but weigh myself (and by weigh myself, I actually mean turn on my Wii Fit game) and I'm down 5 lbs! I know that's pretty much all water weight, especially since I started right after Thanksgiving weekend, so I figure anything I lose after this is probably fat. I ordered some Ketostix from the pharmacy I work at, so if I remember I'll go pick those up today.

Speaking of, this is something that I was mildly concerned about before starting, and yesterday was kinda tough... the pharmacy I work in is a Kroger pharmacy, so I'm right in the middle of a grocery store. Right now it's not so bad because I'm only there 10-15 hours a week with school, but next week is finals, and I hope to work 30-40 hours a week over the break. At home it's easy, I can just not walk into the kitchen, but walking past the fruit aisle 10 times a day... it'll be challenging. Especially whenever berries go on sale.

Current tally on food:
Crispy cereal - edible, not exciting
Chicken soup - enjoy
Butterscotch pudding - awesome!
Wildberry yogurt drink - meh
Hearty stew - edible, not exciting
Vanilla shake - pretty tasty
Chocolate drink mix - pretty tasty
Chocolate soy puffs - pretty tasty

Today I get to find out about the omelet, if I get off the computer soon enough. :-)

Oh, and as far as exercising goes, eating an egg sounds like a good idea. You should also consider having a restricted item as your meal following your workout session, because your body will burn up those extra carbs no problem once it's revved up like that. Just don't push yourself too hard, especially if you're not accustomed to working out, otherwise your body will try to force you to give it more fuel and sticking to IP will be a challenge. If you do work out a lot, though, keep it up, maybe just take it a little easy for the first two or three weeks. Myself, I'm trying to do yoga.

Take care!

Not so Lil Richard, I also was told that if you are already exercising you can keep doing what you are already doing, but not to start anything new. I don't remember the reasoning behind it though. But hey, keep at your hard work!! And, welcome to the forum!

And I wanted to ask again since it was at the tail end of the November thread...any on exercising? Thank you to those who have responded. My Coach recommended adding a hard boiled egg after a work out.

I have noticed that I feel the cold more than before also. So far we have had a warmer than normal Nov/Dec but on the days when it has been cold I have been quite cold!! I worry about how I am going to feel when winter is here in all her glory!!! I wonder if it has something to do with having less fat?

Torchlaker: I am glad you feel much better and you should always hold your head up high!!! You have acheived GREAT things!! Funny what stress can do to our bodies!!!

Did you get the storm that was predicted?

Hi everyone and Welcome "Newbies",

I read each and every post and hold your thoughts and tips close to my heart.

I am not good at remembering "who said what" so I will not address you individually but please know that I would not have come this far on IP without addictively reading your posts at all kinds of odd hours. LOL.

I am having trouble getting the water in! I maybe drink 32-40 ounces per day instead of 64.

I am getting constipated so I know the 2 are connected!

I am getting tempted by all the goodies that my co-workers are starting to bring in.

I am getting tired of broccoli and salad.

Okay, I vented!

On the positive side: there are some IP packages I haven't tried yet such as the "jello" and the chips.

There are some flavorings I haven't tried yet such as the Torini syrups and Walden Farms coleslaw dressing.

So I will add those in in the next few weeks to keep me motivated.

I am soooooo cold all the time. I have taken to wearing an extra shirt under my scrubs that I wear to work.

I do think it's the layer of fat insulation that is now gone from my body that is making me feel cold.

I used to be a "skinny kid" and "slim" teen-ager and I remember being cold when others weren't.

Exercise: I am in week 6 of my diet and I am feeling ready to do some aerobics. So far I have only been taking walks maybe once or twice a week on my days off work.

(My job as a nurse involves standing and walking for most of a 12 hour shift and I do NOT do any extra exercise on those days! Okay? I do NOT... LOL)

I am just about ready to join my local gym...........

Thanks to all of you for posting, keep coming back........I need you.

lol -- I'm finding the same thing!! I've been sleeping with a t-shirt on top of my pj top because I was finding that my shoulders and back were always cold!! I guess we're losing some of that extra 'insulation' that we've been carrying around.

Ogdog, OMG, Ogdog, OMG!

I just went over to the recipe thread. You have outdone yourself. I can't thank you enough for inspiring me to stick to this diet. There is life on IP.

Your BBQ sauce recipe says

"something magical happens in the fridge"

I say:

"something magical happens when Ogdog goes into the kitchen"

Thanks again!

Something new that I have just tried and absolutely love!!! Some others have probably already done this, but I added about 2 tsp. instant coffee to my (ready-made) chocolate drink. I'm not really a coffee drinker, but the addition seems to thicken the drink a bit and make it taste richer. And I tried it hot the other day on the way to my son's hockey game and it was really, really good.

(Is instant coffee allowed on IP? I think I remember seeing somewhere that we are allowed coffee, but since I don't usually drink it, I kind of ignored what I read -- if anyone knows if we shouldn't be having this, please let me know.

I actually plan my day around when I can have my 'treat' now :-)

Keep at it everyone.
