  • I met my weight loss goal exactly one year ago today. I'm actually about 7 pounds below my original goal weight. That's just where my body seems to have settled in with my new behaviors. So far, I am managing this weight with some wiggle room for comfort. There are many days where I think "Wouldn't it just be nice to be able to eat whatever I want and not worry about it?" Somehow, Though, I manage to remind myself how much work I did to lose the weight and how good thin feels. I still worry on some level every day about regaining. But then I know that regains don't happen overnight so there is room for corrections as long as you monitor your weight.

Congratulations on losing the weight and keeping it off!!
You look amazing! & I'm sure you feel even better!!
You've obviously made some lifestyle changes to get where you are and maintain it so keep up doing what you've been doing and try not to worry too much!
  • on your maintaining birthday - what a great accomplishment!!

Here's to many, many more years to come!
  • Congrats on your success! And it's really great that you're aware of what it took to be where you are. I've been there before and didn't appreciate it. When I get back down again maintenance is going to be a top priority for me as well. This forum seems great for that. You look fabulous!
  • Thanks for the supportive responses everyone! It's been a great birthday.
  • Happy Birthday and congrats!!!

I've always struggled to maintain. I know why, too. Invariably, I would eat a little more here and there and then tell myself the great lie: "I'll weigh in a few days." You know how that goes. One pound turns into five...ten...twenty.

I believe that the key is weighing every day and keeping a short leash on the weight gains. Do you agree?
  • That's the strategy that I'm using and it is working. I have an upper weight range that I won't let myself go past and I cut back if I get close. Theoretically, as long as I keep doing that I can maintain this loss for the long haul.
  • Congrats on reaching your 1 year Maintenance Milestone!

I have amost 2 months of Maintenance under my belt, it is a daily commitment for sure

I highly recommend the free website https://trendweight.com/ for Maintainers. I enter my weight daily into fitbit (another free app/website) and then it uploads from here.

The reason that I feel trendwieght is special is because it has a special feature for People that are Maintaining. It has a 5 lb "Maitenance Range" on the graph/chart. This really helps me not be so focused on 1 number, but I can see the trend and also make sure my weight is always in my 5 lb Maintenance Range---2.5 lbs below and above my goal weight!
  • Congratulations. I hope I'll be joining you in a year's time.
  • Thanks for sharing! One year maintenance is a wonderful milestone. Personally, I think maintenance is harder than losing. You are an inspiration to us all.
  • Congrats!
  • Congrats!!
  • Thanks everybody!

Can you use a normal scale? I can't see spending 100 on a scale
  • Wonderful! Congratulations.
