I'm on my 2nd time around here but for me I think a daily routine of weighing in helps me keep my mindset, and I'm totally afraid that if I don't weigh in I'll get an "out of sight, out of mind" thing going.

Daily! I don't maintain my resolve if I slack off the weigh ins. It's too easy to marginalize a cheat, and as most of us probably know, weight creeps on MUCH faster than off. So if I weigh every day I have to face the results of either my good, or bad choices and make adjustments accordingly.

I weigh every morning. Seeing the numbers go down makes me happy and seeing them stay the same motivates me to exercise or eat a little healthier that day. I tend to start regaining weight when I stop paying attention to it.

I weigh every day in the morning and try not to freak out if the scale doesn't move for a week or so as plateau's happen. You need to figure what will work for you. Some like weighing every day, others once a week of 2 weeks works. It wouldn't for me as the first day or so after weighing I would go mad and say ill make it up later in the week.

Daily or I too easily slip a toe and then my whole body into the warm, soothing waters of denial.

I think it's very important to learn not to catastrophize weight fluctuations.
YES!!!

I have a Withings WS-50 scale (really impressed) and step on it several times a day. Via an app on my computer -- and because of the multiple check-ins that I do -- it charts not only the fluctuations, but also shows the line of steady progress that is happening through the ups and downs.

This data really helps me to understand the fluctuations...and helps me to respond to bumps with more neutrality knowing that it is the big picture that counts.

I also have a Withings Pulse (kind of like a Fitbit.) Just learning how to use it. Seems like it is going to be a very useful tool also.

Weekly...no questions asked. Your weight fluctuates daily so there is almost no point in weighing yourself more then once a week other than to test how much your sanity can take. Once a week is plenty, just be sure to weigh yourself at roughly the same time/day each week for best results.

Oh and if it wasn't recommended already, BMI is often an even better way to measure one's health. So if you don't have one already you could consider getting a scale that measures things like BMI and muscle mass as well as the weight. They often keep track of you personally too so it'll ask for stuff like gender, age, activity level, diet etc. beforehand keying in on important details. One of the best ways to keep track of stuff without going overboard. Keep at it!
