May I ask why are you on such a low calorie diet? I personally wouldn't add a protein drink, eating only 1200 calories as I prefer to eat my calories rather than drink them.
Are you having trouble getting enough protein? I just recently added protein drinks to my routine, either as a breakfast drink (coffee smoothie) or as an after workout snack (chocolate peanut butter smoothie). I was having trouble meeting my daily minimum requirements of protein as I live in Korea and protein is not seen as important so I decided to go the protein powder route. However if you are able to get protein from normal food, I'd recommend doing it that way.
