Unhappy What am I doing wrong?

Just about every day I have:

Morning: 3 eggs wrapped in a low carb high fiber tortilla wrap. (Sometimes a greek yogurt bar as well)

Around 11:30: A protein bar with 19g of protein. It is called "Pure Protein"

12:15: An apple with either mini wheats or a salad.

3:30: A bowl of cereal (Special k) or two. And something else. Like, today I had that and some fish.

Then the rest of the day I do not eat much and just run on the treadmill. If I am hungry, I eat carrots after I am done.

Am I doing something wrong? I have been binging a lot lately and I really want to lose weight. Is this what I should be eating every day? I'm just getting so frustrated because I've ranged between 147 and 140 pounds for a month now. I am aware that this is because of the binging, I just want to know if the diet I have listed above is ok. I want to lose about 20 more pounds.

Honestly, what you're eating wouldn't be enough to keep me satisfied. Maybe that's why you're bingeing?

Try to change things up a bit?

Good luck!

I can see why you are frustrated, you must be starving! You are working so hard to lose weight and I would be upset too.

I know it goes against all that we have been taught but we have to eat to lose weight. I would at minimum add a meat and veggie dinner to your schedule.

Someone else with more knowledge than me is sure to come along but the first thing that popped out to me is that you aren't eating enough.

Do you track your calories in myfitnesspal.com or anything like that? That might help if we could see that.

I'm really not hungry at all, I feel like I eat too much to be honest. I forgot to add that I'm 5'6.

I don't think that is necessarily too little food - a lot depends on the portion sizes you are having, whether you are having milk with the cereal, etc. But using generic portions, that looked like about 1600 calories to me.

But I can say that personally, I would binge if I ate that food too because it's a lot of carbs. Like a lot of people, I personally do much better on a low carb plan, certainly one that is lower in terms of heavily processed carbs like mini wheats and special K and that protein bar.

My recommendation would be to swap out some of those carbs for additional lean protein, and with the carbs you do keep, have more veggies, and a small amount of whole grains. If that helps curb cravings and binging, you should start to see a loss.

Why don't u try adding some chicken/fish and veggies for dinner instead of just cereal. How many calories do u end up with daily? And what milk are u using? Personally that just sounds like to little food, which might trigger binging.

WOW. I just found out that the greek yogurt bar has 22 carbs in it and 11g of sugar in it. Good thing I haven't eaten that many of them! Also, maybe it is the cereal. I have been using unsweetened vanilla almond milk (which is really good and only 30 calories a cup) but maybe special k isn't really the best cereal. The tortilla wrap has 110 calories, 3 carbs, and a lot of fiber. The three eggs add up to be 210. So that's 320 calories in the morning. Maybe I can still have that, a salad for lunch, and either chicken or fish and whatever vegetables and fruit I want during the day.

I agree with everyone here - try to cut down on the processed carbs a bit and up your protein and veggie intake. That should help keep you satisfied and avoid a binge.

Also, keep in mind that Sometimes it can take a while for the weight to come off. I know it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move. But it's important to remember that we didn't gain the weight in a day, so we aren't going to lose it in a day

How much protein should I have and what stuff should I eat to get enough? Is the protein bar okay?

I just asked a similar question on this forum about protein bars and protein in general. Several here convinced me there are much better ways to get protein than in those pre-packaged bars. I really enjoy extra sharp cheddar cheese for a protein source, as well as cottage cheese.

I am very sensitive to carbs from white flour and sugar/corn syrup. If I were to eat a couple of the things you mentioned - Special K, mini wheats, yogurt bar, protein bar (quite a bit of sugar/corn syrup if I remember from looking at the label on that particular brand a while ago), I would be very tempted to binge later, that's just the effect they have on me.

Last week I ate good Monday and Tuesday, then Wednesday was my dad's birthday and there was cheesecake, pizza, chicken, sausage dip, and some other things. I had five pieces of cheesecake last week. my weakness!!! So I'm definitely not expecting much weight loss too soon! It's a good thing I'm not going to my dad's until next week. Hopefully all of the cheesecake will be gone by then! Lol.

and yes, I will try to fit in a lot of protein other ways, but those bars are so tempting. :P

Yep! Looks like a lot of carb intake. Most protein bars are loaded with sugar. I'd suggest chicken, fish, shrimp, and turkey. For breakfast cook yourself some turkey bacon with your eggs! Heck turkey sausage! Yum! Definitely kick cereal for now. Measure your food, too.

Are you a pescetarian? I don't see any meat on there. If you aren't I'd recommend a giant salad with chicken breast, it's a great way to get in some more protein and veggies. There's a ton of low calorie/fat salad dressings to satisfy any cravings. If you don't eat meat you can substitute tofu for the chicken. Peanut butter, especially natural kinds, is another great source of protein. I've been adding it to my Oatmeal in the morning and that keeps me satisfied until lunch 5 hours later.

I prefer almOnd milk to regular milk, more calcium less calories.

We all make mistakes along the way, but that's how we learn. It's nice to have so many people help us along our journey. Best of luck.
