My advice is to start basic... I've seen so many recipes that have so many different ingredients - but you don't need loads to make a delicious meal.
My key igredients for cooking are pepper, lemon juice, soy sauce, mixed herbs, and salt (use salt sparingly).
Chicken breast cooked with some soy sauce and herbs = simple but yummy.
Salmon with lemon juice = again reallly simple.
Experiment a little bit and then move on from there when you know what you like.
