Today I had a ten hour window- I couldn't control it. But tomorrow I will be back on schedule. I weighed myself and I am still at 259 which is fine with me. I will probably do a fast more toward the end of the week, after I do a weigh in.
I am so happy because this is working for me!! At first, I wasn't so sure but I noticed that the weight that I have lost during my fasts and IF is staying off!! I thought it would come back once I got "full" but nope! This is not another fad diet for me. IF and calorie counting is working for me. It is a lifestyle change I am willing to live with.
Thanks for "listening", I keep coming on here!

I've been doing IF for many years. It goes back all the way back to being a kid who skipped breakast and gave away her lunch. I can remember not eating until after 3pm since I was 7. Various breaks along the way when I did eat regular meals. it does seem harder now but being mindful really helps. My eating window is 2pm - 8pm give or take an hour. I'm 16 hours today and not hungry so another hour or two should be easy. Hope your day is going well.

I'm going to try this. I had the long weekend off, and found that this was what came naturally - no breakfast, a light brunchtime meal and then a larger dinner. My calories came in around 1500 for the day. I find that I tend to eat a lot in the evenings, and when I was trying to eat breakfast and lunch normally, I was just left feeling gross and bloated by the end of the day. This way I just feel normal at the end of the day, and I've lost 3 pounds already (water weight, but still, much more comfortable in pants.)
I think most of the battle will be mental, and I need to make sure I stay sharp during the day, I'm a lawyer so I need my brain power!
I'm also finding that small amounts of higher fat meals are what my body likes, and low fiber. Going to experiment this week with forgetting the "rules" about what to eat, and just see what feels good.

Eating mindfully is so important. I overate after my IF yesterday, so will concentrate on keeping my focus on veges. Today I have a dental appointment so cut my IF short at 14 hours. I find bad breath can be an issue for me during an IF so I've had a banana today to take away the ketone breath.

Well, I thought about keeping to my friend's eating/fasting schedule over the weekend. Turns out girlfriend eats A LOT more than she lets on! She says she doesn't eat breakfast, and neither do I. But around 10:30 a.m. she starts rummaging through my refrigerator for eggs. Then she finds some chicken. She made coffee and used up my milk. Nibbled through my raw almonds. And drank several shots of ruby port. Then she nagged me about hurrying up so we could go out to lunch. There she had a small cup of soup. And a cocktail. And she ate the bread and butter. Picked at a salad. Then came home and nibbled on all sorts of cheeses, pate, found my stash of dark chocolate. Then she said she really didn't eat dinner. And that was only Sunday!
I could not keep up with her "fasting"!!! I started eating at lunch, had my cup of soup, salad and salmon. I drank a cocktail too, but no alcohol at home. I joined her in nibbling on almonds, cheese and pate that evening. I ate a couple pieces of chicken and had some greens.
Yesterday we didn't eat till we got to a restaurant for lunch. Then I totally overate, had two cocktails. We laughed and flirted with the wait staff. Eventually I saw her off at the airport.
This morning I have decided I just need to do some fasting. Shooting for a 36-hr fast. I feel bloated, hands puffy, joints achy. I'm scared to get on the scale.
I love my friend, a lot. Just can't live with her food choices! Makes me a little sad that she's a size 6 and I'm a size 22. She eats so much more than me!

I'm just checking in. I did well with my Saturday fast, but did not get my hike in because the weather did not cooperate. I did get to the climbing gym though and that was loads of fun! I can't wait to go back and do it again.
On Monday morning I did my officially weekly weigh-in and was very excited to see that I broke the 150 plane, but only just. I weighed in at 149.5. Monday was a fast day, and it was one of the rougher fast days I've had. I had a nagging headache for most of the day. Hopefully tomorrow will go better. I don't eat again until 6 tomorrow.
Kittymilk, I was surprised by your mention of ketone breath. I've done Atkins and have had the whole ketosis experience in the past, but I can't imagine getting into ketosis as a result of IF unless you are really limiting carbs during your non-fasting times. Are you doing low carb in addition to IF?

Georgia, your fasting friend make me smile. Fancy her being a size 6 as well. It is hard to fast around friends though, food is such a social connection.
Justkay, it's not true ketosis most of the time but I do seem to have feral breath after 15 hours of fasting. I did have a tooth out yesterday that was decayed so I'm hoping that will improve the situation. I have done atkins in the past and it works but it doesn't seem to agree with my digestive system, I find eating mostly fruits and veges work best on all counts for me now.
Today I did 17 hours and broke my fast with a vegtable stew I made in the morning. I'm trying out slow cooking in order to have warm healthy food ready to go when hunger strikes. Should help with sudden temptation eating. My weight was 126.4 today but I didn't eat much last night with a sore mouth.

Georgia- funny fasting schedule with your friend! Good she wasn't with you for a week or 2- ha!
I have my dad here now, visiting and he is underweight. He snacks and grazes all of the time! I am doing OK with IF, but my weight is def up- will weigh again on Friday. Somehow, it feels like I am in a calorie surplus that is really hard to shake! I did fast from 5pm yesterday to 10am today, ate and worked out at 11:30. It feels good. Today my son's GF is coming over to bake cupcakes with him... and I have had her cupcakes before- to die for!!
I am taking my dad out to a castle for a fancy lunch tomorrow so, I will probably have my first meal around 12:30 or 1pm. I don't know when my window will close tonight.
Hope all of you have a great day!

I dropped 4 lbs overnight, and I'm sure it was all water. This morning I had a small breakfast later in the a.m. and then I'm planning to skip eating again until tonight. My sons want spaghetti and I usually join them. But this time, I'm going to eat the spaghetti squash with the pasta sauce. Hope I like it! I'm sure if I add enough butter to the squash and enough cheese on top...
Kelley, where are you going to lunch at a castle?! I have traveled with my friends for a couple weeks per year and our eating schedules seem to never mesh. We were in Scotland in June and I purposefully got a flat for us in Edinburgh so we could keep some nosh available to us to get us through till the next meal time. And we stayed across the street from a good pub so I could have dinner and she could drink gin. (Of course, she ended up eating and I ended up drinking, to keep each other company.) Good thing we averaged 6 mile walks all over town every day while sightseeing!

IF is amazing! I just started IF this week, well actually it might of been this past Saturday, can't really recall. Regardless, It got me over a plateau. I lost 2 pounds since Monday. A total of 31 pounds since August 18th. I do 18 to 24 hr fasts. Today will be 24 hrs at 12pm.

For those of you doing daily 16-18 hr fasts with a 24 hr thrown in there for good measure...what are your daily and average calories?
I love fasting but having trouble some days deciding if I ate too much or too little. I am not worried about "starvation mode" but am worried about going too low some days and then, consequently, not being able to make it through my next fast or end up overeating later. Thanks

Georgia- I am in Sweden, but from GA! Like your name. It can be hard to travel and eat smart and healthy even with the best of plans. I always leave town with a plan of how I am going to be eating...
We had a good lunch that started at 1pm. I stopped eating at 8:30pm even though DH came home with chocolate candy of all kinds and made fresh popcorn. I had a good dinner though and wasn't hungry- am now at midnight, but I'm going to sleep soon so it feels good to be a little hungry. Got an hour of spinning in today too. It felt great.
Stars- let us know how it goes. Sounds great!
jms- I don't count calories, just try not to overeat and eat healthy foods, plenty of protein and keep my eating window as short as possible. That could be 10 hours or as little as 4. If I feel that I have slipped up then sometimes I will count WW points. I know a VERY old plan and put it into use every once in a while.
Going to Stockholm tomorrow- still sightseeing with my dad. Breaking fast at lunch, maybe 1pm. Not sure.

Today I did 17.5 hours, I broke my fast with a cup of soup and a couple of hours later had a big bowl of grapes. I tend to eat 2 main meals a day now, my cals are in the range of 1500-1800 though I am not tracking.

Do you work out Kittymilk? If so, while fasting?

I am still struggling with bloating and divesting myself of the evil influence of refined carbs. Weight went back up again this morning and the idea of fasting makes my head swim. I'm trying to do too much all at the same time, so I broke down the plan a bit more. Sticking to very low carb (to help get my head back in the game) and making sure I don't eat for 12-hour shifts. When I'm back on top of controling the carbs, then I'll shift to shorter eating windows. Might take me a couple weeks. I've been struggling with eating later and later. I don't like it. I'm now cutting myself off at 7.
My boys are having a lot of friends over during the weekend, so I've decided I need to do a personal retreat in my bedroom. I'm stocking up...lots of water, tea and other distractions that are not food-related. Pilates in bed! I will catch up on sleep too, I think. By Sunday, I expect I'll feel the need to go out for a massage.
Have a good weekend!
