Default Grains

I was wondering I started eating more grains and I mean 6-7 servings a day to try and get more fiber. But I notice when I eat over 6 or so grams of fiber in one sitting I get a belly ache really bad. It is because of the grains or fiber. I do get a lot of fiber from fruits and veggies.

Also I was wondering if anyone knows how long homemade beans stay good for in the fridge as well as the freezer.

Thanks

Grains can bloat. My husband had that issue with oatmeal, but he switched to quickoats instead and it doesn't cause any problems. The quickoats are easier for him to digest therefore giving him no issues.

Beans probably would only be good one week in the fridge, but maybe a couple months in the freezer (if sealed up tight).

My husband tends to not eat as much brown rice and pasta. He likes it but I think it also bloats him. Eat less grains and see if it still happens. If it does then it's not the grains. I know I get that way with wheat products and have always thought it was normal until my husband's mom told me all about her 'candida' stuff. She still can't eat sugars at all (except some fruits). She can't eat wheat at all.

I'm doing a slight candida diet starting the beginning of the year to see if it helps me.

I hope you figure out the problem!

Didn't we answer that question in the thread you started the other week?

Have you seen your doctor about your gastro-intestinal problems?

Have you told him this? It sounds like your problem is fibre rather than grains.

The only grain that doesn't bother me is basmati rice. All the others make me bloat and give me massive digestive troubles so I don't eat them anymore.

Canadacatman, we're not gastroenterologists, and even if we were, we can't diagnose you down the internet! The abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhoea that you report are a sign that something is wrong. If your doctor isn't treating this as a problem, go to another doctor. If your doctor is OK but you haven't asked him all these questions, go back and ask him the questions you've thought of since you last saw him.

I do not know your problem but please stay off my threads. I asked their opinion to see if they knew. Now I told my doctor everything and it only happens when I eat grains nothing else. I get some fiber from fruits and nothing. So please stay off my threads.

Thanks
