Welcome to the site! I'd say that 1000-1200 calories per day is good (I'm supposed to be at 1200 too, but sometimes I only eat 1050 or 1020 or 1100 or whatever if I find that I'm full), but personally I wouldn't recommend going as low as 600 per day. You'll feel miserable if you go that low! Just my opinion. VLC (very-low-cal) diets work for some people, but they`re usually only recommended for people who are significantly larger than you are and they usually require supervision/guidance from a doctor or professional. Plus, they are super difficult to maintain. Walking is fantastic, but if you are comfortable with more exercise then some cardio (even just 20 mins of cardio a few times a week) would really boost your fat-burning, as would some simple strength/resistance training. Good luck!
