Did your WEIGHT LOSS STALL when you reached 10 lbs to GOAL?

  • I've often heard it said that the last 10 lbs to goal is harder to lose than the first 50.

So far through this process, my weight loss has been pretty linear...with the exception of 1 or 2 weeks early on in the process. I haven't reached any stalls (to date), however, I'm getting very close to the "last 10 lbs" and am starting to get a little "anxious and worried" about hitting that notorious and highly DREADED stall!

I'm actually at a normal "BMI", so my last 10 are vanity lbs...I have very little to no visceral fat, so I'm figuring the remaining lbs must be that marbled fat that lies deep within the tissues (kind of like a nice juicy piece of fatty steak..haha!)...ok..ok..I'm getting way to technical here...

So my question to all of you who have reached your goal weight....did you hit a wall or find the last 10 ridiculously hard to lose? If so, how long did it take to lose the last 10?

Don't get me wrong...I'm nervous...but I'm not afraid to FIGHT! If a fight is what my body wants...then a fight I will give it! I just want to be prepared.
  • Ohh yes I did.....and I had to fight to get to goal. I had started out just cutting back on my portion sizes but when I got to the last 10 I started calorie counting. I bought a food scale and started counting and measuring and it worked .

I know you calorie count already and are already at a normal BMI. At my last 10 I was not there yet and as such I am afraid that I do not have any advice as to how to proceed.......
  • Yes, the last 10 pounds were harder to lose. But I think it was because I relaxed a little. Almost like I was testing out how maintenance works. Up a couple, down a couple......then I went back to being very careful, and I was back to a fairly steady downward move.
  • I'm not quite where I want to be - while I'm in normal BMI, I want to lose more in hopes that my waist-to-hip ratio will come down more (dumb apple shape! ).

But, what I noticed over the last 6 weeks or so (after I entered normal BMI) is that I thought I was stalling/moving slower, but really my pattern of weight loss changed. Before I was pretty steady, but now I have moved into a pattern of no changes/small gains or losses, then a couple of pounds of whoosh. I'm still getting used to this new pattern, but my monthly averages have actually stayed about the same.
  • Thanks for all your responses!

I'm really hoping to just cruise on into goal weight..haha...but it's nice to know what to expect so that I'm ready. Let me go get my "boxing gloves" on so that I'm ready for this fight!
