Default Michael Thurmonds 6 Week Body Make Over

DH wants a "diet plan" to follow and saw this infomercial on TV.... for 150 bucks, it seems like a rip off for something that will likely tell him to stop drinking a case of beer a week, get off the couch, moderate portions and add in veggies...

What does this plan actually say? Is it worth the money or can you get the same thing somewhere else for less?

I'm very weary of any diet with an infomercial, let alone one that advertises a "6 week" get up...

He should don what you said, and keep at it. Buy p90x and save his money. Give that 6 weeks and then decide.

He may well need to hear the basic truths from someone besides his spouse (something we are all guilty of at times), but $150 would be better spent on a trip to a nutritionist and a personal trainer, I think. He may not realize that such a thing is available.

I think you captured this in a nutshell.

I did the plan a long time ago. There is a base plan and an "accelerated 6 week body make over plan". The 6 week plan is HIGHLY RESTRICTIVE, some people here have been very critical that you don't get enough food and it's too restrictive to stay on. It reminds me of the extreme plans that people will do when they want to dump alot of weight super fast because of some short term event coming up quickly. Common sense should say that it's not practical to drop 20 pounds in a month. Can you do it - yes/maybe but you sure won't like the process. I don't recommend that part of the plan.

The basic plan was one of the first of it's kind I believe of the "eat for your body type" kind. You answer a bunch of questions and it gives you a body type and and a food list and meal plan to go with it. I know some people are very critical of this plan but for me, it was the first time in a long time that I lost weight on a diet plan. And I felt that way because of the TYPES of food I was eating - before I was focusing on low fat primarily - and for the first time I understood what sugar (not just refined white sugar) did to me. Two people can eat a half cup of watermelon and metabolizes differently. So for my $125 (I got it at a discount), I did learn that I did better with low glycemic foods. I would not say that I wasted my money on it, although I wish it wasn't so expensive. The informercial really sucks you in.

Would I spend $150 on this again? Probably not, especially if you think the recipent will not even read through the first packet and answer the questions. You can get used copies on E-bay for much less.

My 2 cents...
