Default Dr Ian's new book: 4 day diet

I saw this while browsing B&N's new releases. Looks like it's due to be out Dec 30... just in time for all those resolutions.

From the brief description, it sounds like a more easygoing version of the original Fat Smash. Being the book addict I am, I'll probably buy it.

Anyone else heard of it or interested?

I bought the book and plan to start on Jan. 5. I tried EFS a few years back, but felt it was too restricted. There looks to be flexibility with the 4-Day Diet since each module lasts only four days, so I am going to give it a try! Not looking forward to the first 4 days of detox, though....

I just saw Dr. Ian Smith on The View and this diet sound interesting. Did you start it. If so how is it going? I want to know how you like it before I get the book.

I really like it so far. I am on the last day of my third module, Protein Stretch. You have to do the first two modules in order, and then do the rest in any order you want. For my first go-through, I'm doing them in the order they are in the book, so I can get an idea of what each module is like. I started on Jan 5th and have lost 8 lbs. so far. I'm trying to follow as close to the plan as I can, but with the amount of exercise the plan recommends, I'm not feeling too guilty about making some minor substitutions here and there.

The first day of Induction (first and mandatory module) was rough, b/c I was going from eating whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted (hence the reason I need the diet!), to eating really healthy. After that it's been fine. Induction kind of reminded me of EFS, to be honest. Lots of beans, brown rice, and salads. This weekend is my husband's birthday, so luckily the Smooth module is the next one on my list! I recommend the book, I am seeing results and not feeling too deprived of anything.

Nice review Scoutieout. Thanks.

I just picked up the book at B&N for 30% off... LOVE that bookclub discount. I believe Target also has it for around $17.

I'll read it this weekend and possibly start on Monday.

Unhappy On reserve at library.

Hi gang :

I have reserved it at my local library, my budget does not allow me to buy very many new things for now.

Sadly everybody else had the same idea as I am number 15 on the list !! God knows when I will get it as each person is allowed to keep it for a full 3 weeks.

Glad I am having good success with his original book from 2006, but was interested in his new theories.

I bought my book this past Thursday and I've been busy reading. I plan on starting the program this coming Saturday. Get paid on Thursday and then I will have a chance to get everything that I need for the next two weeks or at least the 1st two modules. I also plan on following it the order and then I plan on switiching things up. There is a yahoo group about this diet plan if anyone is intersted. You just have to do a search on yahoo in the group section and then type in The4DayDiet. I'm actually looking forward to this plan as I've been having so much trouble sticking with the plan. How's everyone else doing on the plan?

I bought an audio version on Itunes that came with the digital copy to print out. I have started listening and reading it and it sound like something I can do. How is everyone is doing with this diet now?

I had originaly bought fat smash diet on audio but that is really confusing as it doesn't come with any of the lists. I remember watching Ian K Smith MD. on Celebrity fit club and thinking he had some great ideas don't know what took me so long to actually get one of his books.

Question Anyone doing The 4 Day Diet?

If so, how's your progress? I'm considering adding this to change up from the EFS routine.

Hi.

I was on the 4-day diet for about 12 days, and I lost about 6 pounds. I switched to the fat smash diet because I was tired of wasting food - changing foods every 4 days would leave me with food leftover that wasn't a part of the next 4-day module. But the diet is great!

Thanks LadyC. I'm a big fan of leftovers so I might have to rethink this.

Have any of you done both the fat smash and the 4 day diet? Which one helped you lose more?

I just finished the the 4 day diet and am down 12 lbs. but it was only for 28 days. I am going to start the fat smash diet on Monday. I have skimmed through the fat smash book they seem very similar... hope to loose more on the fat smash diet.

Hi all!

I am starting tomorrow. I had a question about condiments and how you are eating it.

I am again starting the induction phase and wondered if I could add anything to the food to flavor it. Mrs. Dash? Olive oil?

How did you eat your meals? I am planning on fruit and yogurt for breakfast with the psyllium and water, fruit for a snack, then I was going to do bean, spinach and rice for lunch but thought it might be dry. Then fruit again, salad w/lf dressing for dinner and fruit with lemonade for dessert.

What worked best for you all?

Thanks!
