Just thought I would share my updates and a few frustrations as well. Last week was my first weekly weigh in after using the GWF. I lost 1.4 lbs (GWF calculations said it should be about 1.04, so thats pretty close). I think I sometimes over estimate my food, but better to over estimate than to under estimate. It was also my birthday week, so to still lose weight during that week was wonderful. I didnt diet, but I did start exercising (walking on my treadmill). Overall, I was very happy, and the GWF definitely made me realize that I did not move much. (I work from home so really, I dont get much movement unless I purposefully do it, which I guess I had become very efficient in not moving!!) Anyway, this week has gone well, except for the scale. I have exercised every day and monitored all my food intake. My total calorie deficit for the last 5 days has been about 3700 which is a little over 1 lb, BUT, for the last 3 days I have weighed myself first thing in the morning and I am up 3 lbs. It is so frustrating!!! I am trying to tell myself to calm down.... I am trying to tell myself to analyze with my head and not my emotions. I know I have not even eaten enough cals to equate to 3 lbs. My daily average is about 1700. I also think that 1700 a day is sufficient not to make my body think I am starving it, my only exercise is walking, not running a marathon! ANYWAY ... I am hoping this might be a TOM thing, or in my case TOY!! lol, I have very irregular cycles (alot of related to my weight), so I really only have it 2-3 a year. It has been over six months, and I am thinking that the exercise may have kicked it into gear. At least that is what I am hoping is happening. I really cant think of any other reason for the scale to show a weight gain, when the GWF numbers say there should be a loss. I know this is a rather personal question, but if anyone does not mind sharing, do you tend to gain weight leading up to your TOM and if so, about how much do you gain? Also, once your past that week or two, do you see a big drop on the scale, or are those weeks just kind of blown??
Sorry for the long post, but I am just a little frustrated in only my 2nd week. I thought I would have at least a month or so of weight loss before it stalled. I am trying to remain positive, but it is difficult sometimes. Any advice or comments would be greatly appreciated!! THANKS!

Oh dear, I'm not sure what to say FloridaGirl except keep going. I haven't been using my GWF long enough to know if my TOM will affect it's accuracy, but I think I've read a number of other people indicating it does tend to cause them to maintain or gain a pound or two which they lose the following week.
I've had my first 6 proper days and so far my GWF calculations say I should have lost 1.17 pounds and I have lost 0.9 pounds. Not bad but maybe it's first week gitters or something but I get worried that maybe it's a fluke incident, I suppose because 0.9 lb is not much in the whole scheme of things. Even still, I will take it (it was roughly my goal afterall!) and keep going with the challenge to lose 17 lb in 17 weeks. Wish me luck!

Hi everyone! I have a question for you. What is the GWF? I know what a bodybugg is, and have thought it would be cool to see what I'm burning. Is the GWF something similar? If so, which one is better?

GWF is the GoWear Fit which (I believe) is produced by Bodymedia - the same company that produces BodyBugg. I think they are very similar products but use quite different user interfaces - though to be honest, I'm not sure.. I just gather this from what I've read on this forum.

PS: I am loving my GWF so far and would highly recommend it. When I wear it I feel so much more enthused about moving and getting in incidental exercise and less stressed about spending hours at the gym (I now only go 2 to 3 times a week max cf. before when I thought I should go daily and for 2 hours). I chose this over the BodyBugg simply because it was easier to get to Australia

Thanks for your reply, vegandelite. I'm thinking that one of these devices could be very motivating for me. I'm going to research them further. Thanks again!

I just ordered a BodyBugg and I'm excited to get it and begin using it! I decided on it because it said that it was compatible with my mac computer. I wasn't 100% if the others were compatible.

I'm starting on my third week of the GWF and while I had an encouraging first week ( a 3 pound loss) the second week was a bit disappointing. I did notice that as i lose I have to keep readjusting my calorie count as to what I burn if I don't exercise.I don't focus so much on the calorie goals set but my deficit. I will keep chugging along.

I love my GWF. Its probably one of the best things I've ever bought.lol. I have lost 22lbs since recieving it on May 7th. It keeps me motivated and moving. I just like looking down at my wrist and instantly seeing my stats. That is a big motivator. The last couple of weeks were a challenge cos I kept fluctuating between 2lbs. I think it was because I was working out with more intensity and resistance and not eating enough. So I upped my calories from 1300 to 1500 to see if that made a difference and it did. So now I have lost a total of 60lbs and I believe that my GWF has definitely helped me and will continue to be a big motivator for me. I only take it off when I have too which is when I'm in the shower.lol. Good luck to everyone who has one and keep moving. Don't give up even when the number doesn't want to budge, keep pushing.

GWF - Has anyone else had problems with the display being off. All of a sudden it is off by more than just a few calories - it's off by a couple hundred calories every day (it shows I've burned more than I actually have). That's very frustrating because I use it to guage where I'm at during the day.

I havent made an update in a few weeks, so I thought I would share my good news. After gaining in week 2, I was a little disappointed as my GWF numbers should have resulted in a loss. I guess my body was just confused and in shock cause I started to lose again in week 3 and really lost in week 4. I maintain an Excel spreadsheet with my daily GWF numbers so I can easily determine how much weight I should have lost based on the numbers. In week three, I was only 1/2 pound over what my GWF numbers said I should have been, so I was pretty excited. In week 4 however ..... my GWF numbers said I should have lost an additional 2.2 lbs, and I actually lost 5 lbs. WOO HOO!! Talk about excited!! I was over the moon!! Jumping for joy, (LOL, and hopefully burning some more cals with the jumps , haha). Anyway, I am a little scared to update my new data since my last weigh-in. I guess I am still a little unsure how the GWF works in calculating the numbers. I'm scared that since I lost 5 lbs and based on the GWF numbers it should have been 2.2 lbs, I am not sure if that means it is going to adjust itself. Does it do that?? I thought people said that as it "got to know you" it would continue to calibrate itsself to learn each person's true burn. LOL, did I dream that, or am I confused on how it works?? I would much rather the numbers add up to 2.2 lbs and I actually lost 5, then the other way around. Does that make sense? Can anybody clarify this better for me ... I hope I am just confused.
Also - does anyone else experience frustrations with their scale?? It is a relatively new scale ... but I weigh myself 3 times. If I get the same number each time, then I'm done and thats the number. But more often than not, I get two or more different numbers and then I continue to weigh myself 5-7 times until I can get the same number at least 3 times. It drives me crazy!! It is a health-o-meter scale (I think that is the name) but it is driving me crazy!! I hope everyone has had a great week, and I hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Hi ladies-just wanted to jump in here and say how excited I am to finally own a GWF ! Pretty amazing and motivational stuff. I have only had it almost a week so not sure how much I will lose-I have heard about the device adjusting to your body in the first week or two. At any rate I am very happy to be a part of this group!

I have never experienced it adjusting my burn down unless I truly was burning less. It shouldn't adjust just becuase you input you lost more than it calculates. As we lose weight, unfortunatey, we do burn less. I recently found this out the hard way when I realized the same amount of work I was doing a few months ago was not getting me the same burn, but I had lost 20 pounds so our bodies do adjust.

I used to do the same thing, I broke down and bought a Tanita scale. It is awesome. It weighs in .2 increments and it is very consistent so I no longer have to weigh 3 times.

Welcome to the obsession! I have found that as long as I am very truthful with what I am putting in my mouth, the data doesn't lie. It really helps me see when I need to change the intensity or type of workout I am doing.
