I was just wondering. Since i have not been able to stick to anything. I have to restart again. School is a huge factor to this. I am just frustrated.

Hello Ladies,

Yes, EFS is my tool for my weight loss along with exercise and bootcamps. I switch it up often to shock my body back into losing.

Talking New here

Hey guys,

I posted in the general section but haven't really heard from anyone. I will be starting the Fat Smash diet this week and i'm really looking forward to it. I see a lot of you who have had success and others who are struggling. I hope i will be able to keep it up.

Also is there going another forum just for us again? I got excited when I saw that there was a specific place but then i saw they were closing it. Is this thread basically the way we all keep in contact?

Default Fat Smash Grocery Shopping

I have never done the EFS plan, but this is my second time on FS. Here are the major foods I eat on this plan:

Oatmeal
Brown Rice
Sweet Potatoes
Whatever your favorite vegetables are. I have been eating a lot of salads. You can have any vegetables except white potatoes and avocados.
Your favorite fruits. You can eat as much fruit as you want to.
Tofu
Beans - all kinds.
Yogurt - I use fat free whenever I can. Otherwise I get low fat.
Egg whites (I use eggbeaters - and presume that's okay.)

Here's a typical day for me in the first nine days:

Breakfast: Eggbeater omelet with sauteed veggies or spinach; fruit
Snack: Yogurt and fruit
Lunch: Salad - romaine, grape tomatoes, cucumber, 1/2 cup of canned rinsed beans with 2 T reduced fat dressing; clementine
Snack: Raw veggies with homemade hummus
Dinner: Large sweet potato and steamed vegetable. Asparagus is on sale this week so I've been eating a lot of it.
Another dinner for me might be stirfried tofu and veggies over brown rice. Last time I was on this (last summer) my preferred lunches were brown rice salads with beans, or corn and black bean salad.

Great list, thin. You have a lot of my favorites on there. I love slasa for mixing with the rice and beans and eating with a side salad.

On Day 4 of EFS. Made it to the gym last night finally for 55 minutes of cardio. Also walked at lunch today for 40 minutes - haven't done that in ages. Will try to get to the gym tonight after my doctor's appointment.

jessvoc, efs is much more specific about foods and quantities. On the plus side, you don't have to give up coffee or wine, just really limited amounts. You also get 2 100-calorie snacks/day and they're pretty flexible.

On the negative, the cardio requirements are high - usually at least 40 minutes and as many as 75 minutes a day.

I liked fs but was getting a little sloppy after my success with detox and decided I needed something stricter. 14 more lbs. to go.

Thank you guys for your input. I went to the doc today for the results of my blood work and WOW I am a walking ball of cholesterol. Basically if I don't change my eating and lack of exercise habits I won't make to see my 7 year old grow up. I really have a motivator. My mom is also going to be my buddy so I can't slack off. I can't wait to get started

Hello Ladies,

Welcome Jess,

natamars you did a great job on explaining the difference between EFS and FS. They say that FS is for those who have more weight to lose. I find that EFS is manageable because you are strict for only 3 weeks then maintenance and just redo it as needed. I find that it helps me not feel deprived and I can stick to it longer. I've learned to eat properly to reset my metabolism and I've learned to enjoy the excercise. It has become an outlet for me to take time to myself. One thing we all must come to grips on about our weight loss journey is that we will have to selfish to get it done. We have to put ourselves first to succeed at this. To me that's a little sacrifice now for a huge reward later. If we don't take care of ourselves we may not be around long enough to take care of or help anyone else.

All of you ladies hang in there! I know sometimes it seems as if nothing is happening, but then you wake up one morning and you wonder where did the weight and the inches go. Stay as consistent as possible and if possible get your whole household involved in a better eating habit this way you can maintain with no problem.

Wishing you all a loss this week!

Jess, the great news is that FS will definitely have a positive impact on your cholesterol levels! When I went back for my blood work last fall, my doctor was thrilled with the numbers. My triglycerides were way down and my HDL and LDL were right where she wanted them. I had lost 20 pounds at that point. Sadly, I did not keep them all off and am back to detox again ... but have lost four pounds this week (yeah, I know it's water weight, but it is so encouraging to see those numbers fall regardless).

Do you guys keep track of your daily intake like they do on the show, and do you set weekly goals like them too?

Great Job Thinfor5Minutes on your loss.
Jess, I logg what I'm eating and the calorie intake. I don't set a weekly goal but I do set more than one mini goal at a time.

You do not have to count. I just keep track for myself. Eventually when I'm done I will have to know how many calories I can it just to maintain my weight.

I do track my calories. They've been anywhere from 775(unusual) to about 1300, probably averaging 1000-1100. Sounds low, but I was not losing at 1500, even with a lot of exercise. The good part is when I went off plan a few times and ate more calories, I only gained a lb., which came right back off, so I'm not worried about gaining when I increase my intake.

Back at the gym since Tuesday - 55 minutes of cardio that night, 35 minutes last night, plus a 40 min walk at lunch yesterday. Walking again at lunch today - too beautiful here in NY not to be outside.

On Day 5 of week 1 - still feeling some hunger pangs but trying to keep busy and working through it. One of my 100-calorie snacks is a 1/2 cup of frozen yogurt and I look forward to it all day. The thought of it keeps me from the other sweets.
