Hi, Dedikayted - been following your journey and you're doing great! I have been doing the original FS and lost 6 lbs. on the detox phase - thrilled! Started phase 2 but then was sick and off plan for 4 days. Went back on detox yesterday but am considering switching to EFS afterward. I had the book on reserve at the library, and it just came in - started reading it last night. Looks extremely tough, but if I can really lose 3 lbs/week, would be worth it. I have 16 lbs. left to lose.

What are your plans with it? How many cycles are you looking at? Are you feeling hungry? I have to say, the portions look really small. I've been tracking my calories and they usually run 1000-1200, and EFS looks like it might be even lower.

Hey Natamars,

Thanks for the compliment! Its really not that bad. The plan looks like a small amount of food, but what saves you is the 2 snacks that you can fit between meals as well. So anytime I eat a meal and feel a little hungry 1.5 to 2 hours afterward, I just go ahead and throw in one of my snacks. So.. the meals are small, but there is never a long time until you can eat again. Plus there are the "free" foods as well.. carrots, celery, pickles, etc. I didn't even see those in the book until just recently.

As long as the exercise doesn't scare you away, you will be fine!

I am hoping that I will only have to do 2 cycles total before I am out of this "weightloss mode" I dont have an exact goal weight yet because I honestly have never been lower than 141, so I am intersted to see how my body changes after that point. I will guess and say that I would like to at least stay on this until I am 130 pounds, but I just can't say for sure yet. When you get closer to your goal, you will see that EVERY.SINGLE.POUND starts making a difference on your body...

Hopefully by this Sunday I will be 142 pounds which would mean that I would be aiming to be in the 130's by the end of the 3rd cycle. (oh my.. that makes me HAPPY just typing that! ......I mean REAL HAPPY! )

Since you have 16 pounds left to lose, I would definitely say GO FOR IT! Just think...In just 3 little weeks you could be soooooooooooo close to you goal with just a few pounds to go. That right there would motivate me!
Like I said, I know that exercise would be EXTREME for some, so if you can commit to that as well, I am sure that the weight would be just falling off of you! The 3rd cycle is a very challenging amount of exercise, but it can be done......... right?

I hope I helped a little bit with your decision.

You can do it!

ok. This TOTALLY STINKS!

TWO THINGS THIS MORNING THAT HAVE ME WANTING TO SCREAM

1) The hip bursitis - um...? Ouch. My hip is hurting this morning. I wish I knew exactly what causes it to get inflamed. I have to admit that I haven't been doing my STRETCHING as much as I should this week - so is that what it is? Or is it from all the cardio? I mean...sheesh! My doctor said that exercise is GOOD for it so I don't really feel guilty when I'm pounding it out in the gym, but when I read articles, they say that overuse can cause it too. Right now I am going to say that maybe the lack of stretching caused it. I started off great with that but ........well.......I kind fell off I know, I know but with the amount of cardio that is required in the book, I guess I would be too tired to pop in my callanetics or ttap tape. But I can't make excuses. Even if I don't atually watch the videos, I guess I just need to get on that floor anyway and do 20-30 minutes of stretching. DAMN IT!

2) My period! Nooooooooo! This morning I woke up bloated than ever. You know what's funny? I am a woman and should be used to having a period, but I still get upset when this thing comes! oh my goodness! And I REALLY hate to say this - but its because it messes up my weightloss mode! That's sad I know. Its like - I dont care that its just fluid. I. DONT. CARE! It just still makes me crazy! I take bc pills that are not supposed to give me a period until like every 3 months. Well sometimes the body has a mind of its own and doesn't wait the 3 months... Honestly, even if I dont actually come on, my body will still bloat and I will go through the nasty period symptoms EVEN THOUGH I am not really "on."

I am just angry. At least I could be one of the lucy women who have a 2 or 3 day period - but nooooooooooooo 7 freakin whole days. A whole week! Come on!!!!!!

ok ok. I won't whine anymore. I am just frusturated. I swear. It just seems like once your body gets in a "groove" for losing weight.. then BAMM - the next thing you know - you are all bloated and have to wait until the thing goes away to figure out where you really are in your weightloss process.

I know I can't change it. I know. But I just had to get that out. This means, no weighing until it goes because since mine stays so long, I am also blessed with the 5 -6 pound water weight gain as well. OH joy. Thanks.

I will be back to log what the heck I am doing. My exercise won't be what I planned today because of my hip. I will have to get creative I guess.

Well - let me go put some heat on this thing and take some anti-inflamms.

I will be back. ...and when I get back - no more whining.

I will keep it movin'! ...sigh

OK. I can't leave the computer with that post.

This is just a hurdle. At this moment - I am CHOOSING to be happy. Happy because I have done well with my meals this week, happy because I have been doing awesome with the cardio, happy because THIS IS NOT FOREVER. Patience! Patience!

I am happy because - I AM A FIGHTER! I WILL REACH MY GOALS

...now that's something to be happy about! I am making changes to my body daily and THAT is a beautiful thing!

Alright folks! The dirt has been brushed off my shoulder!

...now let me go and get that heating pad, nurse my hip, and have myself a beautiful day!

The sun is shining!

Hi Dedikayted:
Sorry to see you are going through so much, but good to see you are keeping a positive attitude through it all. That happened to me last week and i had a 4 lb water weight gain, but as soon as it was done, I showed a loss of 3.5 lbs. So wait it out, and keep doing the right thing and you will see the results!

I am on day 2 of phase 1 and doing well, I look forward to my weigh in.

All the best.

Default Day 18 ..Extreme

I typed a nice long post earlier and lost it! I hate that! Anyway, let me try to sum up some things that I said.

1. I am trying to figure out exactly what to do for my bursitis. I WANT WANT WANT to do my exercises but I don’t want to make this worse. Right now its still sore, but I really think that I can do some exercise! I don’t think I would experience any pain DOING the exercise, I am just wondering if its going to make my hip even more inflamed by the morning. I was so pressed this morning to get back to Extreme Smashing – that I came to work with my exercise gear already on so that when I leave here, I can go somewhere in get it done! My thoughts on this is – pick a few days in the book that are lowest in cardio and follow the meal plan for each of those days until my hip feels better. That way, I am still following the plan. I really think the calories on these days are lower than the other days, so that should work… I think! No matter what, I want to be really TIGHT on the diet while I can’t go superhard in the gym. Going to attempt to do some lower impact cardio. Well that’s the plan anyway.

2. I must must must must must get all my stretching in. I just have to do it before I go to bed at n night. I think it will make the world of difference.

3. Goals – Laying down all day yesterday gave me time to reflect on my whole weightloss journey and I have decided that my goal right now is to be 139. When I get there, I will be soooo happy! It would be HUGE for me to see 130-anything because I really can’t remember the last time I was 130-something… I don’t know.. maybe when I was 13…lol?? Of course, when I get there I will re-evaluate things to see what’s going on and maybe how much more weight that I need to lose, but right now – I have my focus set to see a ONE with a THREE in the middle! It took me SOOOOOOO long to get out of the 150’s…but I DID!!!!!! so I told myself that I need to not get discouraged by hurdles (TOM, bloat, bursitis, whatever) … I need to be proud that I am in the 140’s (which I am) and I need to not allow myself to get down…no STAY DOWN… when I have small setbacks. I want the 130’s BAAAAAAAAD… but I have to just stay focused, stay determined, stay consistent…and know it WILL HAPPEN. Yes, unfortunately sometimes weight fluctuates, but like I said before, changes are happening from within…and in the END… you will see your goal. Sooooooooo, 139 and we will have a PARTY in here! I am excited about that!

4. The bottom line is this - Life will happen. Don't let hurdles scare you, take away your determination or make you give up. Its not the time to put things on hold or become sloppy with your diet. Lose the all or nothing attitude - its what puts us back at the starting line. I don't want to go back to where I was before. Its always better to maintain, then to gain.! But no matter what - keep pushing. Do as much as you can. Just do your best. It all adds up!

Alright. Enough talk. I’ll start logging my meals for today.

Dedikayted - I'll be joining you next Sunday. Sticking with fs detox through Friday, taking Saturday off for my son's 7th birthday(won't go too crazy, though, but we're doing two parties that day and would like to at least try the food), then will start extreme on Sunday.

Was down 1 lb this week, even with being sick and off food plan for 4 days and only exercising twice. Started back at the gym Wednesday and feeling SO much better.

You are an inspiration! I know you've been hurting lately and I hope you feel better soon! I have a kind of chronic inflammation and the damp has been rough on it - SO looking forward to better weather.

Thank you so much for your kind words. I am trying to push through but it so hard when your mind wants to push push push and your body says, "hold, please."

You will do great when you switch to Extreme! Its going to work wonderfully for you. You will probably find that it easy because you already know what your meals are. No guessing.. It will work!

Default Day 19...

I am still here. I have been sleeping on the couch the last 2 nights because for some reason my hip hurts worst when I sleep in the bed. I don't understan that. Maybe my couch is harder and the back of the couch is supporting my hip.. I dont know.

ok. I really really want to go to the gym today. That small walk in the park (no pun intended) was just not enough. I gotta sweat. I hope I dont regret it, but I am going to the gym today. I just need to make sure that I do my stretches.. maybe I'll ice it too afterward. I just feel like my body needs intensity. So I'm going to the gym. I am not going to overdo it, but I gotta feel like I have done something! Sheesh.

Still figuring out my meals. The great thing about Extreme is that the meals are laid out for you. If I am getting the right amount of exercise in - I have no problem following exactly whats on plan... If I do less, then of course I am going to want to eat a little less..

So much thinking. Kinda drives me crazy. I am about to take a look at my book and see where I am and where I'm going. Lets just pray that the hip doesn't get worse by the exercise I am going to do today. Its sore now (but I just got up). Once I get moving around it usually feels better.

I'm going to work up a plan of attack right now.. to work thru this bloat and bursitis. I just like to have plans that way I can let my mind be free

Ok. let me start logging meals. I will update the "plan" later.

=====
I'm going to take a look at the book, but maybe if the pain doesn't get to me, I could re-do cycle 1 or 2 by the book. I'm not going to push myself to do cycle 3 yet. Let me go check the book. Thanks for letting me talk this out.

Default Day 20

ok. I think I have found an answer. I dont know if it is the answer, but the Lord knows how hard I try and this is what came to me while I was on my way to the gym.

Getting over the hurdle.

Don't ever give up on the plan so easy. Even when you are frusturated. Don't say "screw it" because you really don't mean it. You do not want to stay in the place where you are, so do not except defeat.

ok. So the current plan is - Start at Cycle 1 again and do it as written. I have been worked through the pain of the bursitis and I am not giving up. I have slept on the couch for 3 nights and it feels a lot better in the morning. Waking up and being afraid to move for fear of pain is a downer. That's not the way you want to start your day. Anyway, I am not going to talk to much about that because I am not going to focus on it. I am going to take the motrin 800's for inflammation, use heat as needd, and MAKE MYSELF do my stretches! That's how I am going to handle that. I will deal with that one day at a time. I will not talk about the "what if's" right now because I am focused and determined that this thing is going to get BETTER... not worse. One day at a time!

Moving on! I decided to start with cycle 1 again because its the strictest as far as the food is concerned ( I just am not ready to give myself the sandwiches, peanut butter, or cold cereal yet) .... plus it has a tad...(and I mean TAD) bit less exercise than the other cycles. I thought about just doing 30 minutes a day until it gets better..and maybe even switching back to the Original Version -- but I REALLY WANT THIS GUYS! I am determined to see myself through. I want to see 139!!!! And I am going to try my damnest to see it THIS MONTH! I already have wasted one week - and this week may also be blah because of the period and all the fluid around my hip.. .But I have a weapon for that too. I bought some fennel seeds yesterday and I am going to start drinking fennel tea to help with fluid retention. I am trying. I realized as I was walking on the treadmill this morning - that I must in some kind of way be "touching" other people in a positive way. The devil only tries to mess with people who have the ability to do good for others. So if God is working through me to help others, than that is just more reason for me to keep at it. Keep trucking along. I may come out with a few scars in the end but the scars just make me that much stronger. I will not stop.

I didn't have my book with me so I didn't even know what todays exercise requirement was. I am not going to lie... When I got to 20 minutes, I had to yell at my self to keep pushing to 30 minutes.. and when I got to 30 minutes, I told myself that I had to push til 40... and when I got to 40 minutes, I asked myself how bad do you want this...and I pushed all the way to 60 minutes and 5 more for a cool down....and then some stretches. I felt it this morning. I had to push myself MENTALLY more than usual... but I did it! I know it gets hard... and sometimes you wanna cry, scream, or just smack the sh*t out of whoever is around... but just keep pushing. Just keep telling yourself that you DESERVE THIS! YOU DESERVE TO BE THE SIZE THAT YOU WANT TO BE!

I DESERVE TO BE 139!

I have to sit here and chuckle a little. Yes, I am back at cycle 1 (like its any easier), but I am looking at tomorrow's exercise requirement - 85 freakin minutes.

No one said it would be easy.
