Hello, i'm a little confused at the moment! I have been reading through different posts recently and i don't understand a low carb diet. My mum has been rabbiting on about it for a while even though she most definately isnt dieting

What is a low carb diet? Is it low bad carbs or just low in general and if the majority of the diet is not carbs, what is it? I can't imagine that its fat, possibly protein?!
I'm very confused!!! Could someone please explain what a low carb diet is and what the carbs are replaced with?
