I got a program from the Internet called DietPower (
www.dietpower.com). Basically, it is a sophisticated calorie counter, with a large food and exercise database, as well as a weight tracker. You can add foods to the database, even enter recipies. As your weight changes, it recomputes the number of calories you can have to reach your goal based on what you have eaten and what your weight change has been. If you enter your exercise sessions as well, it will use the calories burned to offset those you have eaten. It uses your intake and weight to compute your metabolism. It has helped me a lot. I have lost over 25 pounds since starting using it in June.
Another thing that has really helped was an electronic food scale. I had no idea that my typical servings were so large!
