  • I need to come up with a skill I can teach a group of 20 year olds in 2-3 minutes that doesn't require any materials and I need to come up with it asap. So for example, a song.. but I don't know what song I would teach and I don't want to stand in front of a group of people having to sing loudly!! Does anyone have any ideas either about a song or about something totally creative? The more creative the better!

I will be soo immensely grateful for whatever ideas you can throw my way!! please help!
  • How about saying something in sign language?
  • How about reading nutrition labels?

Nancy, I just thought of that too - I don't know any sign language though, is there a place online where I can learn?? that would be very cool

lol as useful as reading nutrition labels is, it might be a little too complex and I would feel self-conscious so I'm going to stay away from all food/dieting related activities, but thanks for the suggestion!

Sounds like somebody is in an educational methods class...! I remember those all too well (my degree is in music education).

Here are some things people in my class taught:

    1) A line dance - like the Electric Slide

    2) Correct form of a karate punch (this kid obviously knew karate - if you do, this is a good one)

    3) Basic yoga positions

That's all I can remember! Good luck to you!
  • I taught my kids and neices how to sing the ABC's backwords in about 15 minutes when they were 4-8...?
  • The HEISMAN TROPHY POSE...wink

I did a Google search and this one seemed good:
    http://commtechlab.msu.edu/Sites/aslweb/browser.htm

I don't know any sign language myself but it seemed like something you could do without props and singing.

You could also maybe count to 10 in another language?
  • Are you able to use notes? You could do something about how to say basic words or phrases in different languages...like "thank you", or "I love you"... there are site that actually have verbal pronounciations...even Klingon
  • Maybe a brief course on reading body language? A lot of people seem to be without that skill...you know, the ones who can't seem to take a hint. You can go over eye contact (how that can indicate lying), hand postitions (ex. palms up usually indicates honesty), body carriage can indicate a wide range of emotions, and so on.

Select the words you want to see translated.

I suggest teaching them "Happy birthday to you".
  • I just wanted to thank you all, I truly appreciate your help!! I've satisfied my requirements so to speak, so I don't need anymore ideas but thanks for keeping them coming while I did!
  • So what did you decide to do? How'd it go?
  • I used ASL to teach a song, it went well in spite of my nervousness
  • Good grief! I saw the title to this post and thought somebody was in serious trouble!
