Where I live, EVERYTHING is taxed. We get no "tax free" days at all. And none of it is included in any tags.
When I visited the UK, some areas there had the tax built right into the tag because its taxes were the same across a very large area. That was so nice! What I saw on the tag was exactly what I paid. It blew my mind at first.
Now I do what nibog does. If I have X amount to spend, I subtract the average tax rate from it and know I can only spend that amount.
Colorado taxes clothes. Where I live, I'm looking at the total additional tax (Denver, RTD, CD, and CO) of about 7.62% or 8% ish. So, I buy 10 $10 pair of jeans, I will spend an additional $7.62 in tax, almost 1 more pair of Jeans. XD
Oh well, CO has a pretty low sales tax in comparison to others (Denver is just pricey, If I venture out it's lower). And our income tax is really low as well. 4.2%, flat, not marginal. So that's nice... some states don't have income tax.

For a $10 pair of jeans....if the tax was 10% you would only be paying $1.00 in tax....
If the tax was 76.2% or 80.0% tax you would spend that amount in tax....
But basically spend $100 on clothes, almost spend $8 on tax.
And $10 jeans can be found at thrift shops, sales at H&M, sales in Target, mostly clearance or previously owned things. There is a store called "Rainbow" that does a lot of clearance side walk sales. I can find Tanks for $5 and Jeans for $10 on those a lot, only... they are for sizes 10 and under it seems, mostly see size 6 and size 4, along with SMALL tanks, so one day I'll participate in tat sale, not there yet.
