Am I the only one who trolls the Internet for dessert photos?
I guess I compensate for not being able to eat all those luscious desserts by viewing them online. Cakes, pies, brownies, cheesecakes - they're all equally yummy to me. Surprisingly, they don't make me want to go out and binge. I just enjoy viewing all that decadent stuff in a wishful sort of way. Looking is calorie-free, after all. Just wondering if anyone else did this.
I catch myself doing this sometimes. I don't seek it out but then I see something and click on it and then it leads to other things and before you know it, there could be a puddle of drool on my floor (I'm exaggerating, of course, but you know what I mean). I try not to go there though because it does make me want to have those things. I'm a sugar addict and I've cut sugar out of my life so there's no use in my seeing all those things I"m not going to have.
I have a weirder one. I LOVE LOVE LOVE to bake and decorate cakes. I've been off and on on my weight loss journey and a while ago I would bake while bored and it was rainy out. Best hobby ever. Of course, fattening. I would bring in the cakes and treats to work, (say a baked dessert once a week) and then people started asking my not to, as we all started to gain weight. XD
I loved baking though, using home made fondant, braiding pie crusts, the smell, the mess, the ingredients. I would make home made caramel, home made truffles, chocolates, muffins, cup cakes. SO FUN! But... a lot of calories. So, one day, I decided to decorate a cake pan. I made the icing and just painted it over the back side of a cake pan. Took me HOURS to do. (Fondant can take a while, and I was also adding to to rice crispies and had tons of colors). Once done, it looked like a real cake. I left it there and my room mate found it.
Now my room mate, was very use to cakes and sugary things appearing, and so she decided to cut herself a "slice" of my "Cake" and was very surprised that the knife met metal! It was funny to hear her get all upset and then wanting cake. That was the last time I attempted it. XD
I haven't baked since I moved to my Fiance's, no time.
I used to look at foodgawker all the time. It makes me want food too much!! Honestly I'm a chef and I have to look at mouth watering food all evening, so when I am home I no longer look at it. It's like a food obsession. I don't watch food network, I don't search food online, I even avoid eye contact with junk food at the grocery store, I don't watch food commercials either, they are like brainwashing. I've found this very helpful to be honest..may not work for other people but keeping occupied with other things makes me miss food less.
