2 weeks without soda!

  • I gave up all soda for lent to try to break my addiction. I had a bad addiction to coca-cola like literally would have a few EVERY day I knew it was bad so I decided to give it up and asked my younger sister if she would give it up with me since she also had a slight addiction to it. Honestly I do crave it a little, but I feel great! I seem to feel less tired and have been drinking tons of water with a occasional glass of juice. I am so proud of myself and even after lent is over I am going to try to not go back to it!
  • That's awesome! I used to drink upwards of 2 liters a day of coke. In the last nineteen months, I've probably had six cans. I just don't want it anymore.

    Keep up the good work!
  • Good for you!
I have not drank a diet coke since Superbowl Sunday. I was not addicted, BUT, I can tell you my heartburn is gone and I am not retaining as much fluid.

Thanks! And that's an amazing achievement of yours!
  • Good for you, Tina Marie! I stopped drinking diet soda sometime back in the summer I think. At first I stopped drinking it last March because I went on a trek and it just wasn't available to me for 2 weeks, but when I came back home, I wasn't ready to give it up yet. But then in the summer, I ran out one day. And just didn't buy more. And now, here I am, maybe 8 months since I've had a soda?? Maybe 6?? I don't really know. Sometimes I wish for the cool, crisp, taste, but it's just not worth it to me.

Now I'm trying to apply the same philosophy to candy. Much harder for me. But doable...

    Congratulations on your accomplishment!!

That's great congrats for you! I know my mom all my life was addicted to diet coke, it was really bad and when she got pregnant as a older women she quit and hasn't gone back since. Good luck with the candy, I can only imagine how hard that must be!
  • I'm so happy for you! The hardest part of not drinking soda is stopping in the first place...starts to feel like you will always be thirsty as long as you can't have a pop. You should be proud of yourself for getting past all that! Congrats: )
  • Way to go!!!!!!! That is a fantastic accomplishment
  • Way to go. I know how hard that is to give up. I did no soda for 3 plus years then one stressfilled day at work I had one. I was back to drinking it. I also had been caffeine free for those 3 plus years. I was so upset with myself. I know for me regardless of diet soda or regular soda I will gain weight with it. Gave it back up last May. I still crave little sips of soda. Coca cola is my favorite along with Mellow Yellow. Which is hard when it seems everyone around you is drinking soda. But it is doable. Keep up the great work of not drinking soda. You will feel great.
