In terms of weight loss which kind of coffee is better - caffeinated or decaffeinated? Does it even matter? I have been drinking caffeinated coffee, but I know a few weight conscious people who only drink decaf. What is your experience with caffeine vs. decaf?
I drink regular coffee all day, plus energy drinks. Yeah, I'm a caffeine junkie. I don't like the taste of decaf coffee personally so if it affected my weight loss (it doesn't) it would just be cut out altogether.
I agree with the coffee drinkers that caffeine is a big part of why I drink coffee. Perhaps my palate is unrefined, but I can barely tell the difference in taste in caffeinated and good quality decaf coffee. I'm interested to hear logic behind those who don't drink the caffeinated stuff too. Good question guacamole.

ive been drinking coffee through all my weight loss and, if it's affected it, i havent noticed...i did try cutting it out and replacing it with another source of caffeine but it didnt make any difference in my weight loss...
i NEED caffeine!! i work 6-7 hours a day managing a childcare program, i also am the mom of two boys, one with ADHD and autistic traits, and i do most of all of the standard household stuff (bills, groceries, cooking etc)...not because i "have to" but because DH works very hard himself and i like to let him take a break at home...but i digress...
i get one tall nonfat white chocolate mocha in the afternoon before work....that is ALL the coffee i drink and i dont drink any other sources of caffeine either...but i DO NEED that one coffee per day...
I drink caffienated but I'm trying to cut down because I'm having a hard time sleeping lately I could easily drink 8 cups in a day. I'm cutting down to two and tea right now. I might try and cut the tea down (or at least make sure it is decaf/herbal) in afew weeks but right now I am just trying to get use to the idea that I can only grab two cups of actual coffee in the morning. I drink it black, no sugar, no creamer/milk most of the time so it doesn't really do much to my weight loss one way or another.
I actually drink a ginormous regular coffee for my preworkout drink. Athletes have been using caffeine to enhance performance for years. I don't get a big energy surge from any other caffeinated drink besides coffee, so I think it might be the other xanthine compounds combined with caffeine that help. But I'll tell you something- I work out like a beast when I have coffee. They have to ask me to leave the gym so others can use it! So as far as decaf goes, what's the point? I love me some regular coffee, and it hasn't slowed down my weight loss yet!
I drink coffee with caffeine. Only on weekends, and only during the day. I use coffee to give me energy to help me get things done (otherwise I'd sleep all weekend from fatigue).
In the past I've compared drinking the real stuff versus decaf and there was no difference in weight loss for me. However, because I'm sensitive to the effects of caffeine, I only drink one cup of real coffee in the morning followed by a couple of cups of decaf throughout the day. I find when buying decaf I have to buy a high quality, dark roast like a Starbuck brand for it to taste as good as regular.
