When I said we need to bring Dianne's Rocks up a bit, I didn't mean by losing to them!
Gosh, that was fun! We needed that win!!
On Bryce Harper... we saw him at the JUCO world series. He had some good moments, but he is so full of himself. He was ejected in the game that was right before the championship game, and his team lost in the championship game. He disagreed with a called strike, so he drew a line in the dirt to show the umpire where the ball had crossed and then told the umpire what he thought of him. Oh great. What a role model. So, yeah, way too early for him to get this much attention.
Dianne, I remember you and I discussing that with Harper last year. Looks like I will be the winner tonight up 7-0 right now.
Big Bird....I always listen to Vinny! Have since I was 9 years old, lying on the floor, next to my dad on the couch...radio on KFI 640! Almost 50 years ago. I can still remember asking him, if I woke up with him carrying me to bed..."daddy, did we win? Back then it was usually a yes!
However, I was watching on the MLB Network and they had the Washington feed going so I shut the sound off....something I do in a lot of games...all sports!

Well, I was thinking of you, Gary, when it was 7-0. I figured at least one of us were enjoying it. Boy, Chacin is supposed to be our star. He's not shining bright this year.
But... OH SO CLOSE! 7-6. Just wanted Carlos Gonzales to get a hit!!!

WHEW! Anything can...and will...happen in Colorado! CarGo had his chance...SAD day for us today but getting 5 off Kershaw (even though he wasn't the loser) is worth a win for you!

Good game yesterday for Rockies. I didn't get to see it since they had it on some obscure channel that we don't have. Oh well. No game tonight, so it will be dull without it.

Sweet Caroline is not negotiable!!!
Today's Boston Globe contains the following story.
Quote:
‘Sweet Caroline’ not so sweet after all?
We’re not only ones who think it may be time to retire “Sweet Caroline” at Sox games. In the new issue of Rolling Stone magazine, the editors ask several rock ‘n’ rollers if they think pop music is overplayed at ballparks these days, and if there’s any one song they never want to hear again during a game. A few folks, including Steve Earle, Dream Syndicate’s Steve Wynn and Death Cab for Cutie’s Ben Gibbard say they could do without “God Bless America,” and Anthrax’s Scott Ian doesn’t want to hear Metallica’s “Enter Sandman” every time Yankee closer Mariano Rivera steps on the field. Joe Pernice of the Pernice Brothers says he’s had it with Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline” – “[Diamond] doesn’t need the royalties and the game doesn’t need the tune” – and so has Ken Casey of the Dropkick Murphys. “I never need to hear ‘Sweet Caroline’ again,” says Casey. “I was sitting beside a Yankee fan and he made fun of me about it, and I had no comeback. It’s embarrassing to see grown men hugging each other and singing ‘Reaching out, touching you.’”
Fortunately, this was in the Metro Section - not the Sports Section - so no one will see it.
