I'm about 30-40 pages from the end of the 3rd book. I've read them in succession. To the poster that has a long line-up ahead of The Hunger Games trilogy, I would say that they're a super quick read--kinda like candy in book form.

Ok, I must be living under a rock! I didn't know there was a movie coming out!? DD24 (she read them last year) and I must go. Obviously, I'm not generally into 1st run theater movies. I'm not sure which book is my favorite. DD's was the 1st book. It's like trying to choose your favorite child.

Looooved Hunger Games. I read the first one for a Young Adult Lit class and was absolutely hooked. Most of the other students were as well, and my professor even admitted that he had gone out and bought the other two books after he read the first one. I just finished the last one, and the ending left me feeling a little unsure of how to feel. The whole series made me feel that way, though, and I love books that can do that. I think they will definitely be books in my classroom library one day.

Also, I am super excited about the movie. I hope it will be good. I know movies never live up to books, but I think the girl they picked to play Katniss is spot on. I'm so dragging my boyfriend to that one.

The reading level on Amazon is described as "12 and up."

Sorry. I didn't notice this post before or I would have responded. There's some violence in the book, obviously, but it's not gratuitous. Even more, the books deal a lot with the main character's moral feelings on violence and d its damaging emotional and social effects. Other than that, I feel the books are pretty appropriate for younger teens.

Thanks everyone. I'll probably let her get them on her nook the next time she asks.
