Default My Mom's Cranberry Sauce

I make my own cranberry sauce, so my kid's missed out on it.

My mom could take cranberry sauce and mould it to look EXACTLY like a can. I mean ribs and all!

Could yours?

It is so easy and keeps forever in the fridge. My SIL had the canned stuff and my kids just sat there staring at it. They didn't know what to make of the shape. LOL.

When I was a kid, all we had was the jellied kind in the can. I loved it! Not everyone in my family did, so I usually got extra

My MIL makes homemade, but I like the jellied stuff in the can just fine.

when I was a kid, all we had the canned cranberry sauce, my dad was the only one who ate it. we were all really picky eaters. bf and I make the fresh cranberry sauce now, and I love it. My oldest brother and I were the two kids who grew up and started expanding on what we would eat. that's really funny your mom molds it like a can.

We cut open both ends of the can then push it out, slicing it as we go. But we have never pushed the entire blob out onto a serving plate to resemble a can though

Yeah, I've had the can shape growing up.

But I much rather have fresh that I make with vanilla and orange.

LOL. It was pushed out of the can and was sliced as it was passed around the table.

In my family, we always had to have both homemade cranberry sauce and the canned type (sometimes presliced, other times still in the can shape), and I didn't like either of them.

Although I love condiments, I never really enjoyed fruit as a topping for meat (I also hated pineapple cooked with ham).

I hated all cranberry sauces until I had a version that was more like a cranberry fruit and nut jello salad.

Canned. I've never had homemade before.

We do both because people vary in preference, but I LOVE homemade cranberry sauce and it's so easy - I do a cup of sugar, a cup of orange juice, and a bag of cranberries. Let it simmer until it pops, and voila, it's done!

I've never tried the canned kind...I think the shape scared me off a bit. So,this year I am making my own, because all my SIL will have is the canned shaped one
