Default Gallbladder removal...

Has anyone here had their gallbladder removed? I just had mine taken out on Tuesday afternoon and I just have to say OUCH! My surgeon told me it was very simple surgery, easy recovery, no restrcitions, could go back to work whenever I want to, no restrictions on food.

yesterday was HORRIBLE. I didn't stay on top of the pain and I let it get too bad and by then I could only take the edge off with the pain meds. Today I've stayed on top of the medications and I'm feeling a bit better, but still have quite a bit of pain and a pulling sensation internally. It's hard to sit down, it's hard to stand up from sitting. I can't lay flat on my back. I've been eating fine, but haven't been able to go #2 yet, argh (sorry TMI). I guess I feel like a bit of a woosy since surgeon said the recovery is easy.

Any words of advice?

*HUGS* I had mine removed earlier this year and recovery is a bit of a snot. My husband had to shower with me a couple times because it pulled too much for me to lift my arms to wash my hair.

The first tip is to not try to tough it out. Take the pain meds. They are there for a reason and they will help.

*Go for short slow walks. I really believe that the walks I went on with my husband helped my muscles to recover faster. But don't push too hard and stop when you get tired.

*Keep the follow-up appointment. Mine was a week after my surgery (by which time I was feeling heaps better) and it was nice to get some reassurance and to ask things like about number twos.

*Pillows. If you are a side sleeper, doing as the pregnant women do can give you some relief from sitting straight up. Pad your belly with pillows in whatever way makes you feel comfortable.

It will get better - and faster than you think! I promise. Just remember to talk to your doctor about anything you might be worried about - they are there to answer your questions. And they might take a couple blood tests afterwards just to make sure everything is okay.
