Arrow Too Fat for 15

Is anyone watching this on the STYLE network, the schedule is on Monday nights. Tonight's episode is the second one and it is available ON DEMAND if you have Comcast. The series is following 4 specific individuals.

It breaks my heart to watch these kids struggle so hard at such a young age. This is what instantaneous, gratification has done to our children.

I caught an episode the other night. So sad. One girl is over 500 pounds at 17. Our society needs to step up and help these children at a much younger age, before they get to this point in thier lives.

I just watched the episode that recorded last night, I found it last week flipping through channels. I was almost in tears for the one girl who started at 510lbs, because even at a camp for obese kids, she's still so much worse off.

I was watching this tonight and my cable went out in the last 20 minutes! I was enjoying the show and felt so much compassion for the kids. I was an overweight child, but not morbidly obese until my mid twenties. Even though obesity is more common now, it still seems like so much to cope with for a young person.

I did wonder why the behavioral coach did not give the girl who was traveling to a basketball game a little more help in planning her eating.

I was looking for this last night but couldn't find it. I remembered just now that Comcast changed the channel lineup in this area and I think I've lost the style network ARRRGGGGHHHHH. (ATT Uverse hurry and come to my area please)

Last week I almost cried when they were taking the kids' measurements and the girl was too big for the tape measure. I wanted to slap the counselor when he said "We've never had that happen before." How great was that for her self esteem.

I think this is going to be a good show. I just wish there wasn't a need for the camp.

I haven't seen this show. I entered high school at 300 lbs and I graduated high school at 300 lbs. I wasn't an extremely active kid but I was decently active. I walked everywhere I wanted to go, I took PE, I rode a bike, I took dance class when I was younger and spent summers swimming at a public pool.

Anyway, when I was in high school, there were some chubby kids but I have to say morbidly obese kids were rarer than they seem to be these days. One guy in my high school supposedly weighed 500 lbs (he was much bigger than I was and taller too). He was a member of the football team.

It is definitely hard to deal with that much weight as a child and I feel for any other people who have had to deal with it. The one 'benefit' I guess you could say is that since I had seen nutritionists since the age of 9 or so, I was able to read labels and learned about nutrition at a very early age. I also learned a lot about exercise as well.

Though I don't like weight loss shows generally I watch the show. Initially it had that "watching a train wreck" fascination for me but I really enjoy watching the progress. As a mom who only has boys, I find the boy on the show to be an annoying, self absorbed brat and don't get me started on his mother.

The school costs $26,000 per semester (4mos)! ... Wow that's alot of money!

Yes, I've also watched this show! And being at the same age with the other teens on the show it made me feel motivated to lose more weight. When seeing the progress one of the show's subjects had made, it just affected me somehow.

well the good news for Tanisha (510 girl) is she was on the today show before the show aired (can't find the clip) but she has done really well and it looks like she is continuing to do well. The bigger question for her is will her family join in.
