Scary/Sususpenseful Movie Ideas?

My boyfriend and I love watching movies, sometimes on his days off we'll snuggle into bed and watch two or three. In honor of halloween we are wanting to get some ideas for scary or suspenseful movies. We don't mind subtitles either so foreign films work too. We've seen the likes of Psycho, Poltergeist, The Shining, and of course the slasher flick staples Halloween, Friday the 13th, etc. We already have some of these on our list.

But I thought I would ask all you great people to post your favorite scary or suspenseful movies. We love movies like Frailty, Audition(a Japanese Horror movie), Darkness (not to be confused with Darkness Falls). Old movies are more than welcome as well.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Have you seen Paranormal Activity yet? It's in select theaters- I saw it and let me tell you it's one of the scariest movies I've ever seen- I LOVED IT!

my favorite for the Japanese/Asian set are - Battle Royale, Ju-On and Ringu. Two of the grossest movies I've ever seen and I saw both recently, one is from Korea and is part of another movie called Three Extremes- it's called Dumplings. It's subtle horror but I shudder to remember it.
The other one is just... beyond words. It's called Antichrist and frankly it's been a week and I'm still trying to process it. It is almost pornographic in some of the scenes and very very violent. But it also has amazing cinematography and has that "it could happen" horror to it that makes it truly effective.
And then there's my alltime favorite only movie to actually make me scream or jump The Descent. Scared me senseless and I loved it!!! :D

Another vote for Ju-On.

I love Silence of the Lambs and The Ring.
Try looking up movies by genre on netflix or blockbuster. they can give you some ideas...

REC.! Amazing Spanish film! falls under the category of "zombie movie" which I don't normally go for, but this was AMAZING - not gimmicky, no huge special effects budget, just a lot of great thriller moments and fairly unique point of view for telling the story. The American remake SUCKED tho.

Oooohhhh..... I saw someone mentioned "The Decent"! IS there a better thriller? I think NOT!

I just watched Se7ven with Brat Pitt and Morgan Freeman. I thought it was very good, maybe not scary in the traditional sense, but very interesting and it scared me!

Thank you! My sister TRIED to get me to watch that movie- it was terrible! Am I the ONLY person on the planet who doesn't love this girl? SHEESH! More power to her for her career but I think she's totally over-rated!

My 20 year old sister and 25 year old friend watch Hanna Montana- now THAT is scary!

Hijack: When did this meme of zombies as brain-eating monsters get started? Call me old, but when I hear "zombie" I think the classic Haitian sense of "someone under a voodoo spell that turns them into an undead quasi-slave / puts them in a semi-permanent trance" (look for the old 1940s movie I Walked with a Zombie on TCM for an idea of what I mean: very atmospheric and all the scary bits are left to the viewer's imagination: love those drums!)

My boyfriend and I have seen literally every single scary movie at blockbuster.

Just a word of advice --- we rented Last House on the Left, and got ten minutes in to it and turned it off. We found out, just after renting it that it had a disclaimer on it for having a 20 minute rape scene, and we couldn't watch it knowing it lead up to that :(

So that's one not to get, unless you're prepared, I guess.

Wouldja believe Last House on the Left is a drive-in knock-off of an arthouse Ingmar Bergman movie (The Virgin Spring)?
