Outrageous!!!!!!!!!!!
So, I was listening to the radio today when driving to the gym, and I heard this ad for Herbal Magic Weight Loss Centres (only in Canada, I believe). Anyway, the whole ad was offensive, but this line just pushed me right over the edge.
"Let's face it, ladies. We'd all be sexier if we were a little thinner." Not only is this message sexist (as in, a woman is only valuable if she is sexually appealing to a man), but this message encourages disorder eating and is a direct attack on the self-esteem of women everywhere. What would be the effect of this ad on a women with anorexia? Or a young girl entering puberty? Also, f*&k you, Herbal Magic. I ended up emailing the radio station to protest the airing of this ad. I also emailed Herbal Magic directly. I have yet to receive a reply from anyone.:mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :mad::mad::mad: |

I agree that that line was inappropriate and offensive. Good for you for writing to them!

I just filed a complaint with "Advertising Standards Canada" since the ad seems to be in violation of at least 3 (maybe 4) clauses of the Canadian Code of Advertising Standards.

UGH! NOT the message we want out there! Keep us posted regarding any responses you get to your complaints!
So, disappointing that this company would chose this tactic to advertise their product. |
