I really differs from store to store, but in general, here goes:
I am 49
5'9"
162 lbs
My Gap jeans are size 4 and I already purchased size 2 but I still have a muffin top in them. I know more expensive brands are usually smaller but I also tried on Sears jeans, size 4-6 and they were too big for me.
Top - I usually buy Medium these days.

I dont' have to many clothes that fit right now but I got new pants from Banana Republic size 14 & size 14 Essential jeans from the Gap.
My weight is well proportioned but if I had to choose Apple or Pear shape I'd say Apple.

I saw this tread pop up and I though mmm I've posted here before.
3 months later...
I'm still 32 and I'm still 5'6"
I now weigh 168lbs
And I now wear a size 10 and I'm just starting to fit in to a size 8 in some brands.
I will revisit this thread again in 3 months

I'm 5'9"
I currently own a 36" waist and a 44" hip, both of which I plan on disowning!
When I was 20yrs old I weighed 120lbs and wore a junior's 5/6 jean
When I was 25yrs old I weighed 135lbs and wore a junior's 7/8 jean
When I was 27yrs old I weighed 145lbs and wore a junior's 9/10 jean
Then I lost job and gained a fast 40 lbs and jumped sizes. So now I'm 31, I weigh 185 and I wear a junior's 15/16 jeans. Sometimes I can wear a junior's 13/14 if they have enough stretch to the denim. But they MUST be tried on!

I'm 5'9" tall, weigh 140-ish, and wear size 6 in Old Navy jeans, 4 in Levi's 512 (but they're big and I can't find 2s).
Whoever came up with jean sizes for women should be SMACKED!!!!

Mindi,
Try The Gap - they carry jeans in size 2. I absolutely love the Essential jeans.
P.S. and they have them in 34" inseam.
