Default Morning After Pill question. Don't judge please

Okay.. This is crazy embarassing, but here goes:

My fiancé and I had an accident.. I took PlanB less than 45 minutes after this happened. My TOM ended 2 days ago. Anyone know how I can tell how effective it will be? I'm so worried!

Or if anybody could tell me when a woman is most/least fertile (after period? before?) I would appreciate it.

Thanks in advance!!

in the average 28 day cycle the egg is produced around day 14. Sperms can live 48 hours in the vagina or the uterus so the most fertile time is day 12 to day 16. The least likely time to conceive is from day one to day seven. If your cycle is different from 28 days on average you have to adjust the calculations. The important thing to remember is that the egg is produced about 14 days BEFORE the next period starts - so there's always a bit of guess work involved.

If you took the first pill 45 min after it happened and the second exactly 12 hours after the first, the odds are very good that you will have avoided conception. Counting day one of menses (bleeding) as the first day of your cycle your most fertile days are, (very broadly, based on short and long cycles) day 10-18.

Take a deep breath

As long as you were within 72 hours (and you said you were) and the next dose at 12 hours, you in all odds be fine.

It is recommended to have a pregnancy screening after 3 weeks to double check.

Also some people have a wonky period for a cycle or two after, but that's not everybody.

since it was just after your TOM, there's less of a chance of getting pregnant. Around the middle of the cycle is the greatest chance.

Because it was during the early part of your cycle and because you took the morning after pill, I don't think you have a reason to worry. It's highly unlikely that you'll conceive.

Hey Misfit, definitely no judgement, sounds like you acted quickly and responsibly. I'm not a doctor so I don't want to say for sure what the odds are for conception, but they sound low. Best wishes!

that shortly after your cycle, you shouldnt worry too much. its unlikely that you have ovulated 2 days after your cycle ended. and since you took the pill within the amount of time needed... you shouldnt have much to worry about. take a prego test in about 3 weeks just ot make sure.. but really. i belive the timing, and pill will have you covered.

good luck and try not to worry to much

Its all good its highly unlikely you weren't ovulating, but you were safe just in case!! and 45 mins after is very soon after- some time it can work up to 3 days after..but the chances are obviously lowered

A woman almost always ovulates exactly 14 days before her period. A sperm can live up to 5 days, sometimes 6. Day one of your cycle is the first day of your period.

You should be fine. I usually consider day 10 the day to start being cautious. Sounds like you were only on day 6-8.

What Plan B does is prevent you from ovulating or prevent an egg from implanting. Same as the pill.
