venting

There are lots of things that I love about London. But here are the things I can't STAND!

1. customer service is appalling. You get waiters that yell at you when they mess up on your order and shop assistants that are too busy chit chatting with co-workers or touching up their makeup to be of any service.

2. public transportation is the most expensive in the world. Not to mention everything else is super expensive... so you pay a lot for sh!t service.

3. The general belief here that Americans don't give a crap about the environment when the recycling facilities here are no where near the same caliber as the ones in California. I just had to call my city council to complain about the recycling people not picking up the recyclables from my building for the 10th week in a row. I hate these people! I always end up having to go to a recycling plant... I wonder if the people in my block of flats know it's me thats been taking care of our recycling. I'm so tempted to start tossing it all in the trash! urgh!

4. The fact that gas costs $10.00 a gallon... this is absurd!

5. Nice shoes don't last here... due to all the walking : (

Dang! I guess I won't be visiting London anytime soon! It makes me feel better when I pay 4.00 at the gas pump!

I also hate London. Lots of people are rude, they don't move out of the way on the streets, arrogant, generally not very nice. Not everyone though, obviously :)

of course it may not be much different in New York or LA

This seems like a negative thread, but I have to take it as positive. I live in California, so we have our own daily grips about that world. Yours sound worse than mine. I am sorry. ESPECIALLY, for the $10 in gas. I thought my $4.70 was bad.

Don't get me wrong, there are a lot of wonderful things here in London... and I have met some amazing people. I was just venting. All places have their ups and downs. I'm originally from LA and I'm use to the lifestyle there... and things just seem easier there. I'll appreciate it more if and when I move back, I guess. In the meantime I'm going to make the most of what I have here... which is a lot. I have more support here than I ever had back home and I'm grateful for all the opportunities I have to travel... that is worth the rude people in the metro ; )

yes, yes it is absurd :( I'd say the whole of England was with you on that one!

As for the shoes; fair point however... our bad weather gives a great excuse for funky wellies? :D
