Angry I'm going crazy!

Okay, so to start off, I'm 19 and in college. My mom and I have been on rocky terms ever since she found out I had a boyfriend... who is not of my culture.
I dorm and my mom is very paranoid.
She called me up crying a month or so ago and it got me angry b/c she was accusing me of going to a fertility clinic or a doctor or something because she was getting all this mail in my name talking about becoming a mom and basically all this fertility mail.
I got angry b/c I thought she was trying to trick me into admitting to something she thought I did. I NEVER went to one though!
So now I'm home for college and I see this mail coming and it really is for me and it talks about pregnancy and preparing for having children. Am I missing something here?? Today was the last straw.. I received a magazine called "babytalk" and if I'm correct, they will probably mail me a bill or something later.

How could this happen? I have a suspicion someone used my name and entered me into something.. I'm so upset right now and angry because regardless of how it happened, I should not be getting all this pregnancy mail. I'm so confused!

This sounds really confusing. It does sound as if someone used your name for something-could be completely innocent, but I would call the magazine (there should be a phone number in the subscription info) to find out if there is a subscription in your name or if it's just a 'freebie.' I would also get on-line with the credit bureaus to see if someone is using your identity. Everyone is entitled to a free credit report every year from each of the 3 agencies and if there is suspicion of fraud, I think, but am not sure, you're entitled to more frequent reports.

Don't know if any of this helps, but I wouldn't just blow it off. It could be that you accidentally signed up for some info and there's nothing to worry about, but it would probably put your mind at ease to check into this.

I recently moved to a condo complex that's near a golf course/country club and all of a sudden I'm getting mail/catalogs/flyers about golf. I'm sure the mails are address based, annoying though.

It's just targeting mailing - somewhere, you tripped a flag (shopped for a baby present at Babies R Us?) that put your name in a database that thinks you want to have a baby. Normally, this would just be annoying, but I'm sorry it's causing issues with your mom. You're 19 and in college, you should tell your mom it's just mail spam and you aren't immediately planning a family and to just THROW AWAY any more mail when it comes. I don't think you can be billed for a magazine you didn't order, but it wouldn't hurt to go over your bank statement carefully just to make there have been no attempts at identify theft. You could contact the magazine and explain you didn't request it, you are just throwing it away unread and you would like to be removed from the distribution list.

Try not to make a big deal out of it and maybe your mom will make less of a big deal out of it.

I agree with both, check for identity theft and also call the magazine and make sure your mot being billed. Sometimes when you sign up for something online you agree (without knowing it) to 3rd party advertisers, and also like was said you could have been shopping and got "flagged" as a person who would want this stuff.

My parents started getting some baby mail when I was in college too. I'm not sure what started it. But it ended soon enough.

It happens. My son, while had college, got letters
coupons and matches at home from one of the cigarette companies.
Considering he has had three major lung surgeries and one
compromised lung there is no way he would take up smoking -
he likes breathing too much! It also stopped.

When we moved into our new home, my husband started getting mailers from Marlboro. He still gets them occasionally, but they've almost stopped. Have you filled out any warranty cards lately for stuff for college or signed up for any new credit cards? Things like that can get your name on a lot of mailing lists without you realizing. I'd check all your bank statements to be cautious, but also google mailing list removal services. They can help you get your name off a lot of junk mail type things.

When my brother was 19 and in college, they were trying to collect back child support from him for a child that was something like 10 years old already. They were going by name only, I guess, even though the first and last names were both common. That was crazy.

I ordered a bra catalog (old lady stuff) and ended up with alot of risque lingerie catalogs that must have bought the mailing lists, and then porn and sex toy catalogs (even though I never ordered from any of the other catalogs).

I ordered a museum replica catalog (art mostly, but also suits of armour and stuff) and I ended up with knife and weapons catalogs and then bizarre survivalist catalogs.

I ordered a "world import" catalog and then started getting gift catalogs from specific countries such as africa (and ireland - I am of irish descent and interested in ireland, so some of that stuff was pretty cool), and then african american catalogs and magazines, and even political stuff assuming I was african american (I'm not only white, I'm so pale, I'm practically transparent).

Mailing lists are weird

Contact each magazine and tell them you did not order, if you get a bill write on the bill that you did not order this magazine, and mail it back, this should work.
