Default Oh raaaaaats ...

... the North Country Co-op is going out of business next month: see this link (you may have to register)
http://www.startribune.com/10241/story/1508321.html
I walk over there a lot, they have good food there (last time I was there I had some kind of African peanut-vegetable soup, mmmm) and the distance to and from my office is about a mile and a half, so good exercise. And there are so few supermarkets near the university: I see there's an Aldi, but Franklin Avenue is kind of far to walk, and I knew about the Lunds, but that's a more upscale chain ::discussion collapses into sour grumbling::

Default I feel your pain!

Oh, ANOther, I soooo feel your pain. North Country Coop has been around since I was at the U! I can't imagine it going away. You probably have read The Omnivore's Dilemma by Micheal Pollan; the way to sustainability and good health, and good stewardship is anchored in concepts like food coops.......it is just unthinkable as America as a whole awakens, that NCC would go away. What gives?

In fact I haven't: while I enjoy organic/vegetarian/vegan stuff (Amy's mmm), for me Whole Foods and co-ops are an alternative rather than a primary source, I do the bulk of my shopping @ conventional supermarkets like Rainbow and Cub and get largely conventional products. Consider me more a Marion Nestle follower, and even then I don't obey many of her recommendations, than a Micheal Pollan-ite. The co-op just happens to be the nearest market to the campus. Sorry to disappoint you
