We've had quite a few discussions about Kirstie Alley over the last year. While most start out as curious questions, and some even complimentary first posts, almost every thread about her has eventually degraded into jokes or insults.
Unless any of us have personally met Kirstie and weighed and measured her, how can we know how much she weighs? Sister Jennifer and I weigh roughly the same amount, but I look much larger than her because I carry my weight differently. I'm a lot older, have had a baby, and I've lost and gained large amounts of weight as an older woman, each time settling in a different place. How many of you can relate to this? I know several women that have lost large amounts of weight, but were left with large amounts of skin below the waist that no amount of exercise or diet could remove, so they were still several sizes larger than they could have been had they the benefit of more youthful skin that bounced back. Surgery was their only option.
Kirstie has fantastically gorgeous arms, a slender face and upper body. My gosh, she's almost 57 years old but looks much younger! I hope I look that great when I'm 57. Or 47

So her thighs are still large. So what if that's where her body has undergone the most damage from years of obesity. Can any of us say we haven't experienced something similar? Who better to understand the end result of being obese than all of us on this forum?
Go to the store and put 20 pounds of butter in your buggy. Now imagine that spread on your thighs, along with a lot of excess skin. A thin person with 20 extra pounds just on her thighs could look like she weighed
much more.
Almost everyone on this forum has, at one point in our lives as fat chicks, been insulted or looked at disapprovingly, and we know what it's like to feel the sting of harsh or cruel words. Why on earth would any of us insult someone else for being overweight or having a less than perfect body?
From now on, every conversation about Kirstie Alley or any other celebrity that insults their weight will be edited or deleted at the discretion of the mods. It's ok to give her or anyone else kudos for her progress, which is very evident. But anything less will have to go.
Thanks
