Hey everyone,

I just wanted to respond to some of you who took the time to reply to me for that I thank you.

Techwife - I definately see your point about "blaming the terrorists" instead of the ignorance of the people but unfortunately I don't feel that holds water. In Britain they teach religious education from the age of 7, they learn about Christianity, Islam, Judaism, Sikhism, Hinduism and Buddhism. Also I'm a speaker myself and am invited to schools every term to speak and answer all sorts of questions. I love the openess of children and have no problem when people ask me things like "Why do muslims kill people" or anything like that - I LOVE anybody who is searching for knowledge and who are not "embarassed" to ask. I think its dangerous when people are ignorant and thats why things like the holocaust happened back in WWII. I mean I was watching this documentary called "Turning Muslim In Texas" and most people didn't even know whether we believed in God or not. Here - the average Britain can tell you the Arabic name for god (Allah) (this is only shocking because Muslims are on CNN 80% of the time) and the man we consider and believe to be a prophet "Muhammed (PBUH)" the average Britain even knows that we believe In Jesus (PBUH) and his virgin birth - and that we are waiting for his second coming. I think more should be done to educate people because ignorance is dangerous. My mother was protestant and she converted to Islam, and my father was always Muslim but they both brought me up knowing all about other religions, I would find my dad reading the old and new testament and I even own my own as well. Like you said I don't "hate" people for being ignorant but I don't excuse them because I don't feel there is any excuse to be ignorant. Thank you for enlightening me .

Royalsfan - thank you for your reply back as well it was quite heart warming, because I'm sure you know that Muslims regard Christians EXREMELY highly simply because we're part of the abrahamic line and especially because of how highly you regard Jesus (PBUH). We have a whole chapter devoted to the Quran (our holy book) called 'Mary' and its all about the story of her piety and Jesus's (PBUH) virgin birth, miracles and trust in God Almighty. Thank you once again.

JayEll - thank you for your sweet words.

Well I hope you are all well and that we spend the day thinking about the people who died on September 11th... and since then. God Bless you all.

My son was conceived on that day. My (now ex) husband was on a flight to Denver that got diverted back to Chicago and ended up getting home late that night. So, yeah, it changed my life in a little different way than most. I remember watching the widows of men who died and thinking that could have been me. A very sad, scary day for us all, but I got a fantastic little boy from it.

I was very fortunate not to know anyone involved in the events of that day, but of course the memories of that day have become a part of the fabric of my being. I have written a blog post about how 9/11 affected me within the context of my life at the time that it happened, and how it all relates to my personal weight loss. If you're interested, you can click on the link below.

Thank you for this thread. I was going to start a similar one.

My boyfriend (now husband) had a real problem with being late. He was sometimes an hour late to work pretty much daily. We worked in the same place, so people would ask me about it, and I hated being harassed. So I would nag him always about being late.

On September 11, 2001, he had an interview at a bank company in Tower 2 at 9:00am. He was late, and never got to the building.

I thank God everyday, and especially today, that my husband was late that day. Everyone at that particular company had died; they were trapped in by a collapsed ceiling.

My husband still commutes into Manhattan daily, and I make sure I tell him I love him everyday. I never want the last words between us to be harsh, because NYC is still a prime target. This morning, we almost left on bad terms, but I made up with him before I let him go.
