Standing next to a skinny girl doesn't make me look fat. Fat makes me look fat.
A few years ago, I started working out, eating right and dropped 10 pounds to weigh 135. I found it amazing how many women made snide remarks about how they could be thin, too, if they quit eating, etc. It belittled me and my efforts and truly made me feel like crap. In a way, it was worse than comments I've overheard being overweight. At least it's true that overeating and sitting on my couch made me fat.
She could be naturally thin or anorexic- who cares? It's not like the weight she lost jumped onto my butt. Thank God life isn't a zero-sum equation and I have control over what I eat, whether I work out and who I allow to talk smack to me like that.
