I wish I would have put up a plastic pool in the backyard (but we don't use our backyard anymore because we have a giant dog with giant poo piles and has worn away a ton of the grass, making our backyard more of a sheepdog exibit at the zoo than a backyard)
I wish I would have ridden my bike more (but my son at 6 is still out of control on a bike and makes me nervouse, so maybe next summer)
I wish I had gone on the boat more often (the weather here in August didn't cooperate, but we still have 4-5 days and the weather is supposed to be perfect this weekend)
Made Sculpey Clay beads and make hemp jewelry or friendship bracelets out of them with my daughter
Things I plan to do on the last 4-5 days left:
Play Spongebob Monopoly with the kids all the way to the end
Jump off the back of the boat before getting wet (like my husband does in early June when the water temp can't be much more than 60 degrees) and make a fool out of myself (on purpose for a change)
Go to the beach a couple more times
Go for a bike ride with my daughter
Things I'm GLAD I did:
Get involved with Summer Marching Band with the kidlets
Go to the beach a ton of times
Read the Harry Potter book in a week
Plant a tomato plant in my flower garden and not in the backyard so the dog can't sit on it and play with my tomatoes like they're his toys.
Took the kids to the planetarium in Rochester and then came home and learned when to see the International Space Station and the detached Space Shuttle go by. So cool!
Went to the park by the river to watch the meteor shower with the kids at 11pm
Took the kids and the dog to the boat launch to go fishing
I'm glad I quit my job at MasterCuts so I could spend the summer with the kids. I'm REALLY glad about that!!
Taught my son to swim in the deep end without plugging his nose.
Taught my daughter a lesson in looks vs. personality with boys. We went to my best friend's house and she has a nephew who is really, really, really, really good looking and a really good hockey player. Hence, my daughter has had a crush on him since she was about 8. She also has become friendly with a geeky boy in marching band who has a bad crush on my daughter. So, we went to see said best friend's nephew at my best friend's house. Well, the cute hockey player was so stressful for her to be around, she said that, although the hockey player is hot, she'd rather have the geeky band guy as her boyfriend because he's more fun and they have more in common. I was pleased. She's learned what I've been telling her...boys are people...not accessories.
Heavy sigh....I can't believe how fast this summer has gone by. It seems like last week the kids were bugging us to take them out on the boat and I said, "Relax...it's June...we have the whole summer ahead of us!!"...now...it's over!!
I kept up my exercise routine. I really thought it was gonna stick, but I got lazy! At least my eating habits stuck.
This summer was very productive actually. I did a LOT of things I was procrastinating on. Big things...huge even!!! I had never really been happy with my smile, so after...ehh, 10 years of putting it off, I finally took the $9000 plunge this summer. It will still be a little while, but 10 months from now I'll be long finished with my weight loss, and sporting a brand new smile! (I know I photo looks okay, but I'm usually uncomfortable smiling). I took on a second job. And I finally applied for my passport
So this summer was more full of accomlishments than regrets
Wait - summer is almost over??????????????????????
Some of you are in California, as I am....
Is there a deadline to do stuff?
If it means that after this weekend there will be less tourists in town on the weekends then I am happy.
Gee, and in my part of California, the tourist season will be starting in just a few weeks! But you're right--there really isn't a deadline, except for those of us with kids. Their school schedule really takes a bite out of planning anything fun.
I did pretty good this summer! I didn't do a lot of sitting around. I ran my butt off, lived in a new place, worked an exciting internship, learned about a different way of living, got engaged, and learned how important my family is.
I'm dead broke, though! I would have liked to have made some money. And I wish that I had taken a couple more classes. Oh, and I didn't get to go to Graceland (But I did see Elvis!)
I wish I would have...taken a vacation. Been meaning to, just too many other things going on. But there were a couple of short road trips to visit family and still another coming.
I wish I could have...stayed with my dad a little bit longer.
I only have an "I wish I WOULDN'T have". And that's...
I wish I wouldn't have run out of money before I got to buy my arbor, plant more flowers, redo the walkway and the back patio, put up a new fence, put in a gazebo and widen the driveway. LOL
But I AM gonna start buying the stones for the walk and patio a few at a time and start on it. Maybe before the snows fly, I can at least get the walk done, then do the patio next year.
Ok, I may be outta money, and hubby is not a lover of credit, but I actually got a word in edgewise and talked him into getting a Lowes credit card. So...I'm redoing my walkway now.
Now...I wish I would've bought a truck instead of a hatchback...so I could haul more of my walkway stones all at once. LOL
