Bladder Infection??
Help me out guys..it's the weekend so I can't call my doctor to get an appointment yet. I think I have a bladder infection. It hurts like **** to pee...I cry everytime. It burns. I drink water like there's no tomorrow so I don't understand why I would get this.
Is there anything you've tried that has really helped you when you've had one...if you've had one?
I appreciate any advice....my mom is buying a thing of cranberry juice...I was hoping to avoid drinking my calories today, but I guess it's supposed to help.
Please help!! I've had such a yucky week with having a head cold, possible morning sickness and a bladder infection. All in the same week!! Craziness!

It could also be a urinary tract infection.
http://kidney.niddk.nih.gov/kudiseas...dult/index.htm
I've also read of ways to prevent them. There was an article in this past month's Glamour magazine and I remember it They said to
1. Not use condoms with spermicide
2. Urinate after having intercourse
3. Drink lots of water
4. Wear cotton underwear
Sorry, but I think whatever it is you need some medication to help clear it up

Cranberry juice is a joke at best. I have a history of utis and have even seen a specialist. There is an over the counter med called AZO, and it will turn your pee orange, but it will take away some pain until you can get to the dr. If it is a true uti you will need medicine.

thanks guys. I appreciate it...*as she sets down her glass of cranberry juice and dumps it* See...it always helps to find out what is a myth and what is not.
I'll see if I can get to the store to get that medicine at least until morning. Darn it...my trip is going to be postponed again. Driving with a UTI OR bladder infection is uncomfortable. Yuck.
You guys are great...can always count on you.

Cranberry Juice is not a joke, both AMA and Rutgers University say it works,
I have proven it in my own case as I have suffered with bladder infections..And drink lots of water.

Maybe it depends on whether it is a bladder infection or a UTI?

Azo or Uristat works wonders. BUT I have been told that it will keep the dr from being able to dip your urine to check for a UTI, so if it's your first bladder infection you may want to skip it until you see your doctor. I know it's torturous tho, so if you can't wait it will make you feel so much better. I keep some on hand at all times for my daughter and I, we both get UTIs frequently.
Edited to say: I missed that you said you have possible morning sickness? UTIs can be serious in pregnancy I believe. You should probably call your ob/gyn ASAP.

I cured a urinary tract infection with cranberry juice, water and tea once....I was traveling out of the country and didn't want to find a dr. When I got home I got tested and was fine.

Your sickness could be caused by the UTI. Do you know for certain that your pregnant? If its a real possibilty you might be best getting checked out as an emergency.

There is also an over-the-counter med called Cystex that a friend of mine swears by for bladder irritation. But I agree that you need to find out whether you are pregnant.

I get them all the time, and I just eat fat free yogurt and drink some organic 100% cranberry juice, and take it easy on other, more processed foods. Usually I can get rid of them myself, w/o medicine or a doctor..

hello all
thanks for all the comments...doc appointment is first thing in the morning. I want to get this taken care of and then I can get tested for everything all at once. It may be too soon to know if I'm pregnant though. My SIL thinks she's prego and got a blood test done only to be told it's inconclusive and she needs to wait two more weeks. That's why I have not gotten tested for pregnancy yet. I will ask though It would be a blessing.
I seem to be feeling a little better today...been drinking a lot of water and keeping my bathroom visits to a minimum...otherwise I become dependant on the bathroom and will stay that way even when the UTI or bladder infection is gone because I get scared. Does that make sense? More than burning is the feeling that I constantly have to pee. What does this sound like?
I'm going to skip OTC meds until I see the doc and she can do a pee test. I will still go even if I'm feeling better...wouldnt want to make it worse.

Ugh i've had a couple of those, but I will let you know they give you antibiotics and I felt better after 1 or 2 doses. It really works. My doctor said the cranberry juice is good for preventing them, but once you have one it does nothing. He did say drink a lot of fluids when you are taking the pills though to flush your system. Hope you feel better soon!!
