Yeah, I wasn't thinking that they wouldn't allow something like a granola bar, more like fruits and veggies. I do distinctly remember the water thing, though. I guess you could take it through if it was in a 3 oz. bottle? Haha.
Also, just curious, but has anyone else accidentally left a "prohibited" item in their carry-on luggage, only to discover it when you get to your destination, meaning it passed by the screening? That's happened to my mom a couple of times with things like little pairs of scissors in random pockets of bags. That's kinda scary that something would get by, but I guess no one's perfect.

Dana, breathe, relax, you'll be fine
Oh one tip I have is buy airborne and take some before your flight and after your flight. There are little germies flying around with you on the plane and in the airports since there are so many people. I like to boost my immune system a little bit by taking airborne.

Sorry, Nelie, but I don't recommend Airborne. It's a mega dose of vitamins and there is sooo much Vitamin C that many people get diarrhea. One dose of vitamins (and a few herbs) is not going fend off germs any better than good hygeine (washing hands), being rested, and staying hydrated will. The only study that shows it works is the very small study done by the manufacturer. But it's just my humble pharmacist opinion.

I never had a problem with airborne (or any diarrhea associated with it) but I am highly highly prone to colds and I used to always get one while travelling but after I started taking airborne in highly populated situations such as flying, I have noticed they are a rarity. Maybe it is a coincidence, but I forgot to take an Airborne on my most recent trip, got a cold which I noticed at the end of 2nd day after my flight, started taking airborne and the cold immediately started to subside.
As someone who used to get sick multiple times per year and now I don't, I like my Airborne

yes, food is allowed, although you aren't supposed to take fruit into California for some reason, but I always do.

I haven't flown for a few years, but was wondering about this water thing. When I flew, it was like going to the courthouse. You could take water, but you had to actually take a drink in front of them before you could go through with it. They won't even let you bring it at all now?
Lindsey, hubby forgot he had a hunting knife in his jacket pocket one time. It was a jacket he hadn't worn in awhile and he found it after we'd gotten to the airport. We told them at the checkin counter and they found a box for us and we packed it and wrote our info on the box and they checked it. Our luggage had already been checked, so this was sent through separately.
