Talking Hot Dogs - What's your toppings?

Just taking a little poll to see what is the most popular hotdog condiments. I've been watching too much Food Network baseball night!

Me - I like deli(brown) mustard, onions, and DILL pickle relish.

Onions. I can't eat a hot dog without onions.

Aside from that, I like ketchup and mustard. Sometimes relish and sometimes hot dog chili sauce.

My truly favorite is chili, onions, and jalapeno peppers! Not exactly on my diet anymore but that is ok even though hot dogs were once a staple of mine (I ate three a day for nine months straight when pregnant with my first child) I am learning to live without them. Now they don't like my stomach.

I second the kraut!!! But I also like mustard, ketchup and dill relish. I hate sweet relish.

NewFannie07, your recipe sounds the best to me. Here in Chicago, it must be a Vienna beef hot dog with "the works", which include: mustard, onions, relish, a slice of dill pickle, a sport pepper or two on a poppy seed bun, topped with a light sprinkle of celery salt--NO KETCHUP. There was a high concentration of German immigrants 100 years ago, so a strong taste for mustard prevailed/prevails. My father loved mustard & onions, when a kid I loved mustard & dill pickle--now my favorite (on both hot dogs and burgers) is mustard, onions & dill pickle. On a very rare occasion I'll get sentimental for childhood & have a little relish. But I agree--sweet pickles are for children, not adults. GIVE ME DILL!!

If I had to have ONLY one condiment, it would have to be brown mustard.

The only time I ever put ketchup on a hot dog is when it's a francheezie--then I use both ketchup and mustard. But since I don't eat those anymore, I can leave the ketchup for the fries, where it belongs.

(I'm sorry. I know, those are fighting words; and I'm not really interested in "flaming". I just felt compelled to stand up for proper Chicago hot dogs. If anyone here eats hot dogs with ketchup, it's your hot dog, you enjoy it any way you like. Don't mind my speechifying--I really don't intend to offend.)

LOL - FatToFit......my hubby loves the Chicago dog and he's never even been to the city!! I always have to have all the proper "fixins" for his Chicago dog esp. the celery salt, but I can never find the poppy seed rolls. Guess he'll just have to make a little journey

I vary it, depending on my mood.
Sometimes the works (ketchup or BBQ sauce, mustard, relish, onion)
Sometimes just cheese and BBQ sauce
Sometimes the ghetto girl comes roaring out and puts just ketchup

lol fattofit, I am the same way with people eating poutine with ketchup. That is just WRONG.
