Default Have you read The Tale of Genji?

My sister got me this book for Christmas. I made it through the Introduction and the first chapter, but I got a little overwhelmed. I'm bound and determined to make it through the book. My sister tells me that once you get into it, its wonderful. I was wondering if anyone else had an opinion to share.

I'm reading the 2002 translation by Royall Tyler.

THANKS!!!

~Kim

I have not read it but I do know something about it. If I remember correctly it was written in the 13th century by a Japanese noblewoman, and is considered to be the world's first novel.

Wonder why they never mention that part in literature class.
