Matt Holliday has signed with the Cards.
About time Matt. Took you long enough.
7 years $120 million
So how much is it going to cost me when we go to the games this year for food and drink?
I'm glad we got him but that's a lot of money. Albert's contract will be up in 2011 dear knows what it will cost to resign him

Wow, Clyde. I don't know if Matt is worth THAT much. Love the guy, but is anyone worth that much? But, congrats on keeping him there.

I would love to know the total MLB salaries for a year...
I'll bet it would put a dent in our national deficit... or purchase a small country in Africa...
BILL ...
just kidding ,
... this stuff doesn't really bother me during the season, when the Sox are contending, I constantly say things like "Oh, I'm so glad we got him"... "He was worth every cent"..... must be the bipolar ...

And just think...20 years ago OREL HERSHISER won the Cy Young...the NLCS MVP...and the World Series MVP....signed a 3year...
that's right....a 3 year contract for 7.9 million....
people couldn't stop talking about that for weeks....
how much per game...pitch...etc....and that was at a little over 1 million a year...
ho hum...to Holliday's almost 20 million a year for 7 years...
although baseball still seems a bit shocked at that contract...
hope it works out for BIG BIRD!!!

I hope so too Gary.
That works out at just over $100,000 per game.

I DO!! In fact about 6 years ago my son got it restrung at the sporting goods store he worked at through high school and college...
too bad my shoulder is so busted up from hanging and taping drywall to throw now....
but I sure remember the days when he was a little guy waiting for me to come home to play catch almost every single day....good times
