Default Can you freeze cooked rice?

I've got some extra steamed white rice that I don't need for anything anytime soon and I'd really hate to throw it away because I sometimes use like about 1/2 cup of rice and some veggies and wrap it up in a tortilla for a lunch or something. And lots of times when I feel like having that, I usually give up on the idea because I hate dragging out my steamer and steaming a bunch of rice when I'm only going to use 1/2 cup of it anyway.

So I was thinking maybe I could take this cooked rice I have now and freeze it in 1/2 cup portions? And then when I want my tortilla, I can just grab one out of the freezer? Would that work? Or does the rice come out all gross once it's been frozen?

Thanks for any help

Make sure you use really good bowls to store it in though, or the rice will be dry when you reheat.

I've never freezed plain white, but I've freezed dishes with rice in them and they turned out fine. You might have to add a little water when reheating though, otherwise, it should be fine.

Ditto on the little bit of water and some plastic wrap when reheating.

freezing is fine, just add some water or broth when reheating. I freeze pasta all the time to because both thaw out fast, and i portion them out before freezing them. It's a great time saver.
