Yucky Stuff To Avoid!

Simply Asia Sesame Chicken Rice-Noodle Soup- BLECH!!

:( Yucko! I tried this tonight cause the whole bowl of soup was less than one corndog the kids were having for dinner, but I couldn't even finish it.

Very strange taste.

Do your have any heads up about yucky stuff to avoid?

Sassy_Chick 05-27-2006 12:34 AM

South Beach Seasame Chicken Wraps - BLECH! I think grass and cardboard tastes better! lol.

Oh I have another one! Don Pancho low carb tortillas! uck uck! I'd rather just have a taco salad while everyone else has soft tacos!

One thing I tried today was the Lean Pockets Ultra Meatball Mozzarella.
The fillling was fantastic, and the crust? At first I was just turned off by the crust, but towards the middle I really started liking it.

I don't like the crust of the Lean Pockets Ultras at all. It is like eating a sponge. The original Lean Pockets are so much better.

I don't mind the fat-free shredded cheeses. Like the cheddar and the mozzarella. I sprinkle the mozzarella on my single-serve homemade pizzas and the cheddar's good in tortillas or quesadillas. But the other fat-free cheese, I know what you mean, it's not very good at all.

Another food I can't stand (I can't really say to avoid it because I'm sure there are some people out there that like it) are the 'fake' veggie hot dogs. I bought a package of the Morningstar Farms hot dogs. I cooked one. I took one bite and spit that bite along with the rest of the package into the trash.

If I want a hot dog, I'm gonna eat a hot dog. Poopie on that fake crap. Although I DO like the veggie/soy burgers and Morningstar Farms crispy chicken patties. Those I'll eat. But the hot dogs made me about half sick.

Fatfree mayo = gross!

Also don't like a lot of the frozen dinners. In fact there's only about 3 I do like (granted I haven't tried them all).

And I'm with you on the veggie dogs, Linda.

Oh that stuff is soooooo gross, I agree.

I don't like fat-free salad dressings, either. I don't mind the light versions, but fat-free? Forget it.

I also can't stand yogurt.

Don't like that Kashi cereal, it feels like I'm eating grass and twigs.

Basically anything 'fake' (besides veggie and soy burgers) that they try and make taste like the real thing but it's just not.

Glory87 05-31-2006 09:15 PM

I don't like Kashi Go Lean (twigs) but I looove Kashi Go Lean Crunch. Tastes like some kinda uber Sugar Smacks.

ValRock 05-31-2006 09:23 PM

I LOVE Kashi (the twigs kind)... but I'm weird like that LOL

YUCKO to frozen dinners that have the chicken that's been reprocessed so that it tastes more like a wet sponge than chicken! ICK. And double yuck to fat free dressing! EWE.

I agree on the soy hot dogs. Hebrew national has 97% fat free hot dogs that are beef and are EXCELLENT. My hubby likes them better than regular Oscar Meyer and they are like 50 calories apiece or something insane like that. check them out!

amber! THANK YOU!

I LOVE hot dogs but refuse to spend 400 of my hard earned calories on ONE hot dog!!

Now that summer is here and tons more cookouts at the lake I needed something good to grill!

I heard about them but was afraid to try them, now I will! (if I can find them!)

mudbugs 06-01-2006 07:25 AM

On the subject of hotdogs, ballpark smoked turkey franks are a really good substitute---45 cal. apiece. I throw them on the grill; my husband has no clue they are anything different than the regular ones. One of those with a "lite bun"--90 cal.-- and there ya go!

LLV 06-01-2006 09:13 AM

I found some the other day that I haven't tried yet, but since my son is a hot dog hound, I wanted to give him something lower in fat. So I bought Ball Park Bun-sized white turkey franks. They're only 45 calories each and no saturated fat.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed they go over okay with him because this child, only 6 years old, can detect when something is even slightly off. But I'm slowly making small changes in his diet without him even knowing. For example, when I make him toast in the morning, I use butter spray rather than spreadable butter or margarine. I just recently started slipping the cheddar flavor soy cheese into his grilled cheese sandwiches. Things like that. Anywhere I can cut fat and sugar from his diet, I cut it because he's one of those kids that simply refuses to eat anything healthy.
