Default Wonderful berry sauce recipe!

I have to share the recipe for a berry sauce I made the other night. It is delicious and can be used on oatmeal, cottage cheese, frozen yogurt, etc.

Sugar substitute equal to 1/4 cup sugar (I used Splenda)
4 teaspoons cornstarch
2 cups fresh or frozen berries (I used frozen mixed berries)
1/4 cup water
2 tablespoons lemon or orange juice
1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (I used an entire teaspoon)
Dash of almond extract (optional)

In a small saucepan, combine the sugar substitue and cornstarch. Add the berries, water, juice, cinnamon and almond extract. Cook and stir until mixture comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for five minutes, stirring frequently. Serve warm. Refrigerate leftovers. Great reheated too!
