Question Canadian Superstores

Hey....

If you guys could give me some pointers about what kinds of low-fat, calorie-wise foods I can find at Superstore (available in Canada), I would be really appreciative I'm still in the experimental stage of finding new foods (I guess we all are no matter how long we've been at it, lol) and getting your feedback might save me a few wasted dollars

Thanks!!

I have trouble keeping all the grocery chains straight. What's the name of their no name? Equality? NoName? yellow label?

Oh! So you see, around here, that's Zehrs or ValuMart.

I think the thing I've been most happy about lately is that they now carry Captain Highliner (sp?) pacific salmon filets. There's four 4 oz filets in a vaccuum frozen sleeve for about $5.

Besides that, I eat pretty plain. Produce, chicken ..... Zehrs does have the best around here.

Hi . . .

It's kind of funny . . . Superstore out West . . . Zehrs in the middle . . . Superstore down here in the East . . . whatever it's called, it's Loblaws.

Did you see all the new President's Choice "Blue Menu" products. We had a new Insiders Report packed full of them last week. I tried some spinach/ricotta stuffed chicken breasts that were very good and got a Shepherds Pie topped with Cauliflower (instead of potato) that sounds great although I haven't tried it yet.

Actually, I haven't met a "Blue Menu" item I have not liked yet. Can't say the same for their "No Name" line. Some are very good; some are definitely to pass on . . . for example, the NN light frozen whipped topping is kind of runny (I'd stick to Cool Whip), but the NN FF plain yogurt is fabulous.

Anyway, good luck. Hope youtry some of these products. I think you'll like them. Have a great day.

There's a few Loblaw's around here. Just not in my rural area. I have a bottle of blue menu fat free italian dressing on the go .... it's good. The last kind I tried was pretty vinegar-y. I'm not sure what kind that was.

One of those concoctions in a cup .... black bean something that you pour boiling water over and let sit ... it was good ...

Hey, stick around for a couple of years. A couple of weeks ago I was the fitday guru, last week I was a calorie counting goddess. I'm losing weight but my head is swelling

There are definitely some good items on the Loblaws/Superstore Blue Menu.

I really like the instant soups - "Too Good To Be True". My favorites are the vegetable couscous and the vegetarian chili, the minestrone is pretty good too. I find them filling and good items to keep in my "emergency food drawer" at work in case of a snack attack or if I forget my lunch and don't want to eat mall food. I also keep Fruit to Go bars, low fat granola bars and Quaker instant oatmeal in the drawer.

Some of the Blue menu crackers are good too.

Healthy Choice brand spaghetti isn't bad but I tend to spice it up a bit with some extra garlic and a splash or two of hot sauce

Wow...I just sort of woke up to President's Choice Blue Menu. It's a whole HUGE variety of low-fat, high-fibre products that they're still expanding on. I'm so excited about going grocery shopping now tomorrow!!
